“Ruining the experience for others” it’s this line I have a problem with. When I think of things in this game that frustrate me leavers in QP isn’t even on the list, maybe I’m biased but I’ve never heard anyone before this complain about leavers in QP. It also screws over people with connection issues who were probably already avoiding comp due to bans now it’s unavoidable. “Ruining the experience of others” anyone else confused with me?

Leavers ruin the game quality for everyone else in the lobby. There were a lot of threads on this forum leading up to the change.
Leavers can still leave whenever they want/ need. They just might get a short penalty for doing so.

Please explain to me how it “ruins” the game don’t just use the word. When it’s back2back2back leavers ok sure I guess but even then you yourself can leave why stay in a dysfunctional lobby. Now leavers in comp? THATS ruining peoples experience the game can no longer carry on as intended but QP? Someone leaves couple seconds later someone joins back book problem solved I can’t possibly see how those 15 seconds you had to play in 4v5 RUINED your experience completely for the next 5-10 minutes

It sometimes takes longer than 15 seconds. I’ve seen teams go through 1-2 entire teamfights as 4v5 thanks to the backfill coming into the game from spawn after one 4v5 teamfight and being too late to make a difference in the next.
Also the backfill comes in with 0% ult charge.

Ok this makes sense so you’re saying it’s not really a leavers issue more a “backfill through games that are already halfway done” issue? I can see how that could ruin an individuals experience. I still think the bans dumb but this explanation makes sense to me

Leavers waste the time of everyone in the lobby. 4v5 isn’t fun. 3v5 isn’t fun. Stomping a team 5v4 isn’t fun. Don’t we complain about how stomps aren’t fun even when you win? Sounds like the match isn’t fun for anyone, win or lose, when you get a revolving door of leavers.

It leads to more stomps, and not just for the leavers team. When the backfill teammate enters they have no ult built up, they also need time to select their character, group with their team and work out the team dynamic.
The other team now has to deal with a more unbalanced lobby as well. Back fill is looser on setting up balanced matches. Which has resulted in myself being place against lower skilled teams where I can proceed to stomp them.
Leavers ruin games. It’s not just a couple of seconds. It ruins an entire engagement, and in a quick play match where that can be as low as 2-3 engagements per game you’ve ruined a good 1/3 - 2/3 of a match, if not the entire thing, upon leaving.

It is. You are sharing the lobby with 9 other peoples, so please respect others’ time or get out of the game. Simple as that.
Exactly. I don’t want to lose an entire round because my teammate can’t handle dying in an online video game.

Yeah idk mate I feel like you’re being hyperbolic, what you say IS the case on paper but not in practice. In my experience I don’t notice any difference in games with leavers from my regular games. Someone dips them someone comes back and we carry on problem solved we’re VERY rarely in this perpetual state of 4v5

Leavers leave because the mere concept of losing in a casual gamemode terrifies them. They put their team that was already at a disadvantage from being down at even more of a disadvantage as they are now down a player and have to wait for a backfill.
The backfill player doesnt want to be there, is coming in to the game with no ult charge and no idea how the enemy is playing. Theyre experience is ruined too. They are also commonly mismatched because there is no magic player ready in queue that is a perfect fit for the match.

If that was the case they wouldn’t play overwatch at all.
Your team is still at a disadvantage if you have a player who isn’t enjoying the game because they aren’t going to be putting in any effort to do something they are not enjoying.
I have to ask this again: What are people supposed to do when their experience is already degraded but they can not leave the match? What are they supposed to be doing when they do not want to be in that match?

LEAVERS MUST LEAVE FOREVER!
I’m not sure why do I care that much about the mode I don’t play even. Leaving the game is giving up, and there are no excuses. If you are not a competitor, then you have nothing to do in genuinely competitive games, whatever the mode is. QP is still about wining the freaking round (unless it’s koth maps)
yeah its pretty dumb if you ask me. now they are demanding that all modes have leaver penalties.
Typically its like this in any game. The people that wanted the leaver penalties badly in the first place, are the ones causing the leaves. They just dont want to believe that they are in the wrong, and running off the player base.
Then there are those that think Overwatch is existence itself and that in their words “nobody should be allowed to game and share normal life outside of the game”.

if the enemy team has leaver in qp i try to stay back on point/payload for a bit. It’s not fun when the enemy has a clear disadvantage and elims are basically free because its 5v4 or 5v3
There were threads about it all the time, but the titles were something like “fix matchmaking” “fix ranked” or similar, not using the words leave/leavers in the title, but almost all of them talked about people ragequiting/leaving when they lost the first fight, etc.

In 13k qp matchess i can only think of one game where haven a leaver ruined the game an that was in season 5 when tanks were really bad. An i cant even count it as a leaver cause the role wasnt even filled from the start of the match and wasnt filled for the entire match. And this is out of 13000 matchess backfill alrdy fixed this issue years ago.

You are actually projecting SO hard. Leavers leave cause they are not enjoying the game. YOU hate leavers because the thought of losing a QP game infuriates you. Please do some introspection.
