Quick reminder that

Mauga is still the worst designed hero in overwatch history

Alright carry on.

Yeah right, not even close when Freja and Sojourn are running around

Not to mention the ever present Sombra bans of course

Nah, that’d be Venture.

How can I carry on after a bombshell like that?!?!

HOW DO I POSSIBLY GO ON WITH MY LIFE!?!?!

Uh huh, now why is Venture worse in design than Mauga, Sombra, Kiriko, Freja, or Sojourn? Indulge us.

He’s definitely the worst designed tank hero but I don’t think he’s the worst. Sombra is still fundamentally the worst due to her gameplay loop & the ban percentage reflects that.

However, Sojourn, Kiriko, and now Freja all are worth a debate.

He is poorly designed since he is just shoot tank all game. But he sucks, so it doesn’t really matter. Tho I do hope he gets reworked someday so he is allowed to be decent at least.

They really did dig themselves down a hole when they made Mauga.

Mauga can never be balanced. He will always either be too weak or too strong. That’s the biggest problem with him being focused on sustain.

He’s a huge lump of meat that needs to deal damage to survive with his easy to use weapons. Make his weapons too easy to hit, he’s getting too much sustain. Make his sustain better, he’s getting too much sustain. Take away anything, he’s now suddenly too weak because he lacks sustain and dies very easily.

I don’t think they will easily find a common ground with him where everyone will look at Mauga and feel like he’s on the right spot, not unless the entire game changes around him.

Immortality, CC, free value shield health generation, boring gameplay loop, low mechanical requirement.

You won’t interact with them very much, but if you die to them, it feels like absolute bs, as you’re really just getting CC’d to death.

Hard to call such a niche hero strong — they’re generally just annoying.

I actually enjoy playing Mauga a lot! Am I the only one? :sob:

Have to agree with the venture take

Zarya and Sombra beat mauga by a long way.

I disagree with a lot of that.

A Cassidy with even one single brain cell (so most Cassidys because he’s a smurf hero) will make Venture less playable than Pharah. Sombra is always banned now so that’s the other counter big counter removed -

And on the flip side, the tanks eat Venture. So a Rein / Sigma or Winston in general makes it pretty hard for Venture due to the sheer amount of CC and barriers they have together.
Venture does pretty weak against Hazard because Hazard’s lifesteal shield and his shotgun damage, a Roadhog who can use one single hook combo will end Venture instantly.

In the support category, Juno does keep a good height even with the extended base fire perk.

Freja also seems to be a good pick as Freja can outrange, keep safe, and her crowd control is pretty effective against Venture.

And the “immortality” is literally just like Reaper’s except worse because Venture cannot be healed during it.

Annoying? Sure, as are a lot of the heroes. But the worst design? Not even close, imo.

That’s your perogative. Takes like these will always be a bit biased.

Sombra is every bit as poorly designed and more, but I just find her less annoying to deal with.

And that’s absolutely fine!

My opinion is coloured by my heroes being prime targets for Venture on Control maps, mostly. And like, I hate seeing people aiming at your legs in the kill cam.

Yeah I mean I agree with your take on venture lmao, I should’ve replied to you :rofl::rofl:

get what you say. I tend to dislike Cassidy a lot and most of my takes end up against him, and it takes a councious effort to actually understand that he’s not that bad. I main Venture and get hard-coutered by him.
