Quick Question on 32 vs. 64 bit

I had task manager running and noticed the /battle.net/ client was running as a 32-bit version, even though I’ve got a 64 bit computer. I don’t know all that much about computer hardware, so I was wondering if this would make my computer work harder to cooperate with a 32 bit application, versus a 64 bit one. Thanks!

It’s in 32-bit so it can support 32-bit computers. However, Overwatch is 64-bit only.

Also why do you want the battle net launcher to work better? It would just slow down your games/aplications that you’re using (If you have many or don’t have a good enough pc).

Programs are compiled to be either 32-bit or 64-bit. So, it’s decided by the developers when they make it.

You can run 32-bit apps on 64-bit Windows, but not the other way around. So, having a 32-bit launcher available allows greater compatibility.

The main drawback to 32-bit applications is how much memory they can use. They can only use 4 gigs of RAM while 64-bit programs can use more.

But 32-bit programs don’t really suffer a performance hit. Windows has a built-in compatability layer. So, it’s only a big deal if they need a lot of RAM.
