Quick Question For Reins

Gday Daddy Reins :stars: I was curious about something.

Ever wish you could chuck your shield at a group of enemies to deal critical damage but be left vulnerable for a bit? Or perhaps a super uber shield bash?

I am a dirty Rat main and I adore fighting Rein players as it’s the most fair and just joyful to be flung around lol but I feel like Rein could use more utility especially with his shield.

I would like some kind of Shield Bash… (Not like Brig)

Remember the Heavy’s push? Something like that.

gasp hey that’s a wonderful idea!! Or perhaps a dozer move where he can hold his shield and charge to quick pin foes but dont deal to much damage.

Tbh, I kinda would like the ability to bulldoze with my shield up. Pop shield and pop a rocket charge.

Things Blizzard needs to do for Reinhardt before we talk about giving him more stuff.

  1. Earthshatter hit detection
  2. Hammer Swing Hit detection
  3. Charge needs to be more of a binary hit or miss calculation. Pin deadzone needs to be augmented.
  4. Firestrike isn’t consistent in damage or hit box.

All these things except the Earthshatter bug came about in the 2017 Anniversary patch, and we are all still waiting for them to be looked at.

You’re not wrong, but I’m also not expecting much of anything to happen to Reinhardt for a while.

I mean, heck, apparently his most pressing issue was a graphic design issue on his shield.

I like Rein as he is (supposed to work). I really don’t want any more to his kit. You have plenty of offensive tools as it is, and the balance of shielding and brawling is what makes him such a nice hero.

I always thought he needed a “melee” attack while he has his shield up. Something like hanzo’s lunge thats on a small cooldown. Deals 50 damage and knocks back and single enemy (no stun) It’s so fricken annoying how you have this massive shield then 1 person puts their barrel to your stomache and you either have to drop your shield and try to kill them or keep it up and pray someone on your team save you while you block damage.

Like a backhand the exposes his right side for a second but knock an aggressor back.

But,

If his shield is moving closer to his arm, which should have been designed that way in the first place, there will be no dead zone for enemies to stick their arm through the shield anymore. I can get down with that.

I’d rather see his bugs fixed first but yeah, I’d love to be able to do a non-stun pushback without lowering the shield.

WINDMILL PUNCH:

Activating Windmill Punch causes Reinhardt to burst into an enraged windmill punch, dealing 30 damage per second to the target over a course of 4 seconds

Thinking on it some more, I actually think it’d be fun if they worked in his shield to his kit offensively and defensively. First example was bulldoze with rocket charge, I’m not sure how you could augment fire strike, but another idea would be his ultimate.

Have your shield up, press Q and the ‘wind up’ is him doing a massive shield sweep to knock enemies back (fairly short distance, no damage dealt or -minor- damage) and then bring in the Earthshatter itself. Gives him a bit more safety when using his ult.

Blizzrad could give him a hammer prod.

With his shield up he takes the hammer and shoves it forward pushing enemies backwards. Bind it to quick melee. Make it counter push back directed at Reinhardt if you time the hammer prod correctly.

They need to change up his swing physics in general, both him and genji run on the same system (for Dragon blade) and Dragon blade hit registration is awful so it’d be nice if they reworked it seeing as two heroes who are played a lot run on the same buggy system.

Disclaimer I’m not saying genji is as buggy as rein just saying that when it comes to the hammer swing it doesn’t only affect rein players

I have an astounding 1 hour on Genji so I can neither confirm nor deny how his ultimate works.

If it is the same mechanic then I do agree with you. Blizzard should fix it.

The worst part, in my opinion, with the Reinhardt bugs is this. They didn’t all exist when the game was released. Earthshatter could have issues, but for the most part it was solid. Hammer swing had an odd hit marker while you were swinging the hammer but most people got used to it. Firestrike had zero issues at all.

When the game was release the only ability that needed to be looked at was Charge. It was one of the most inconsistent abilities in the game. There were times that people you hit dead center would fly off, getting bounced away when they were obviously in the Charge dead zone. Other times you would vacuum people in from another dimension which was equally as frustrating.

At this point I fear what “fixes” Blizzard might enact. Every time they touch Reinhardt some new bug arises.

I don’t play much rein but i have seen all the bugs and he really needs to be looked at.
