Quick play vs comp? Which do you prefer?

I’m honestly done with comp. I’ve enjoyed it for a while but I’m so tired of smurfs and WAY out of balance matches. Nothing in comp has been rewarding at all. Take 8 loses and derank as a healer?? SURE. Comp is super toxic and does not feel team base AT ALL anymore. HONESTLY, if 6v6 came back, I would be so thrilled. I enjoyed the off tank and the constant positive communication. You can be tactical and you needed to work as a team to beat the other team. Anyways, Blizzard needs to listen to there fans and give us a 6v6 mode. I just want to have fun again lol and not pull my teeth out.

QP for sure since the vibe is pretty mellow. However I do queue comp with my buddies every other night since they like to play for the rank (I’ve just kinda gotten used to not caring about ranks).

QP also is great when someone starts tilting because you can just remind them that it is QP and you can take a breather. Everyone is there just for a quick game, nothing too crazy.

QP.

You couldn’t pay me to deal with angry man-children on voice-chat, leavers, broken match-making, throwers, stuck metas, reporting, and all the rest. Oiy.

At least in QP most of it you can just avoid completely, and if you lose, the only thing on the line is your ego. It’s so much more chill.

QP. Yeah the matchmaking is bad, but it’s not like Comp is very fun so the “better” matchup doesn’t factor in to me. At this point I treat the game as a BP grinder - I make sure to do my dailies and that’s mostly it. If I’m close to finishing a weekly I go for it before they reset.

Sometimes I genuinely am having fun and don’t stop even after completing dailies, but that is rare especially since I want to play other games (Rainbow Six Siege, Hogwarts Legacy, Atomic Heart, etc).

Personally I love the BP system… I get in and get out and don’t spend too much time on any one game anymore.

QP, by and large. I’m primarily a solo-duo queuer, and I just don’t care for a team based competitive game where I’m leaving my selection of teammates up to chance; will they stay chill, or tilt for one mistake? Will they actively make callouts, or be ignorant to everything going on? Will they pick a good team comp, or will I get to see some of the most uncoordinated character combinations? Sure, this also happens in QP, but Comp has that certain set of expectations.

And all this, just for a silly shiny emblem that only shows up on my profile, and a player title at the end of the season? Yeah, no thanks.

QP, cuz most of the players there undestand that this is a game and game supposed to be fun.

Quick play. As it still the “best” mode for the chill and don’t care type of players

the only differences I notice between qp and comp are

  1. Do you want more people in voice on avg
  2. Do you want backfill enabled
  3. Do you want longer matches

I don’t care about voicechat and I don’t really care about long matches if the queue times are short.

Backfill is a pretty nice benefit so…

Comp, but only because I don’t like backfilling

qp despite the team doesnt always want to work together or protect supports but 6v6 is permanently dead

quick play since if i have to (supper being done, someone at my door, my relatives perstering me) i can quit out and not worry about it. i would feel bad about leaving a comp game and making the other 4 people suffer. also quick play games are shorter and the queues are faster

dont get me wrong i understand why people like comp. the challenge of ranking higher and being in a real competitive environment. i probably at some time will try and play comp again but meh… later

definitely QP. it’s more chill. I’d probably like comp more if I had a group/friends to play with, but i’m a solo player :frowning:

edit: i haven’t touched comp in ages and just remembered that you can’t do comp in a stack anymore? my point still stands though lol. solo in comp w/ randos sucks

I like 'em both, and I play my hardest in both, but I get more freedom to play other things and try other things in QP.

QP since I don’t have to worry about doing horribly. Also, I can try different characters and not get yelled at for being bad. (What people yell at their screens is one thing, but in vc it’s another, imo.)

Also I don’t have the pressure of “be in vc or lose”. I mean I know it’s a team game and all but…no one acts nice in comms unless you have a premade.

QP. I don’t have the mental energy for anything to do with comp. Last I finished all placements was like… Season 5-6. Its been years. I don’t miss it. Games can go on for too long and you cant leave- Plus people can be really toxic and unreliable.
In my experience if someone says something crappy in QP they get roasted or ignored. But if someone says something in comp 1-3 other people will join in.

Quickplay.

Comp is just quickplay except everyone is angry and obsessed by their meaningless number going up or down.

Games are a leisure activity, best to actually enjoy them…

I get that there is some satisfaction to be gained in mastery of a skill, but the game is designed to value different gameplay elements on a very quick turn over. Like, I got to ~4300 as Tracer in OW1. Couple months time, the game gets brig’d. What’s the point in ever having tried to improve in the first place?

I tried comp tonight, and the matchmaking was just downright absurd. Then I went back to QP after three awful comp maches, and the experience was way more balanced and fun playing with people that actually seemed to care. I would rather put up with QP leavers than the wood-tier teammates I’m constantly saddled with in comp.

And this is a huge developer issue.
You should NEVER have to go through this.
It’s not a player issue, it’s a system issue → bad development.

You should NEVER feel put-off this way with competent staffing.
If they can’t solve this mess, HR shouldn’t solve their misplaced paychecks.

Let them all go, and let real peolpe takeover the helm.
Positive changes within a week.

Comp is just QP+, except some people tie their self image to it.
