It’s getting really bad. People scream at others for not winning and saying people are garbage. Why do people flip out on players on QP when they are practicing heroes? From the sound of a lot of players if you aren’t good with a hero you shouldn’t play the game at all. If you are one of those players please tell me where can one practice without you screaming “KYS”?
While it’s completely indefensible, I’ve reported players for doing such things. And I’m thankful that I receive those lovely little messages letting me know the player has had action taken against them, and Blizzard thanks me.
It is impossible to stop toxicity, and we should never tolerate it. But countering it with the tools provided (that Blizzard has worked on, admittedly) is the first step to doing our best to minimize it.
What goes in QP also goes in competitive and vice versa. Both gamemodes follow the same terms of service while competitive just has a different round rule set and estimates your SR. It means that you’re required to play properly for a win even in QP or you’re eligible to be reported for gameplay sabotage hence why players except you to do so. The only difference is that in QP you’re just less likely to get reported for throwing, but in both gamemodes these reports are just as valid.
If you want to practise heroes without repercussions feel free to pick any other gamemode except these two as they’re the main modes of the game. Also don’t forget to report these players for abusive chat if they’re saying “KYS” or other explicitly toxic things to you. If they’re just saying that you should switch because you’re not performing well I’d refrain from this though to avoid false reporting
Mystery Heroes is a great way of having a good practice with every hero. You can also team up with friends so while you practice one hero a friend plays one he does better to balance out the experience.
Also remember that if you’re being very countered leave the practice for another game, as in this situation you’re not practicing nor helping your team. (For example recently I started practicing Pharah. I can deal with one hitscan, but when two, three start appearing or the one there have more aiming abilities than I have to cover myself I just swap.)
Mystery heroes is far too unpredictable to get good at a hero. The randomness doesn’t let you practice enough, nor does the composition of the team even close to replicate what a normal team would look time.
Turn off voice chat, turn off text chat, play loud music.
Problem sovled.
The problem isn’t the game, it’s the people who play the game.
@Jonseredi how does practicing on a hero in QP constitute as gameplay sabotage? There is a HUGE difference from throwing and not being good at a hero.
Yes, Mystery Heroes is good to practice your aiming and general use of each hero’s abilities, but that’s it.
Playing with friends and/or swapping when you notice you’re not being too helpful is the best choice.
Even if you change to someone else that you’re not particularly good, sometimes the team comps just are better for you to practice.
What I do is have around 3 heroes of each category I want to practice the most and swap around them according to the situation. (So in my case if Pharah isn’t working I go Ashe or McCree, maybe something else if really needed)
It depends. If you’re being countered a lot and you refuse to swap, even though you know you’re not helping at all, that can be considered throwing the game. Too many times I’ve seen Doomfists/Genjis jumping into Torb+Sym combo to die non-stop.
Ah, nowadays are not even remotely close to what the internet and gaming industry was 15 years ago, toxicity wise lol
What I mean is, people lived with this 15 years ago. So, you can do it today.
If you actually look at the reporting functions it says refusing to swap is NOT considered a violation. I give people the respect in competitive because you should only play heroes you are best at when there is SR on the line, but I cannot agree that quick play follows the same rules. This is apparent by Blizzard not making QP subject to 2-2-2.
QP 2-2-2 will be live. It’s just not available on PTR, but the last Developer Update already said a “QP Classic” arcade mode will be available for who doesn’t like the 2-2-2.
Now, refusing to swap is one thing. Not helping the team and still refuse to do something about it is other.
One is your team don’t think you’re doing anything (but you’re actively contributing to victory), so you refuse to swap. The other is you’re really not being of any help and you refuse to swap.
It’s the Tracer that dies but takes with her the two supports vs the Tracer that dies without a single kill.
Swapping heroes doesn’t mean different results. You can be equally bad at any hero. You can switch and still get completely smashed. Reporting for being bad at the game is also not considered a violation. It’s ridiculous to report people who are actually playing the game in QP. If the person is just standing still or not attacking is one thing, but too many people complain about skill level in QP.
You can be equally bad at any hero, but a bad Junkrat against a bunch of hitscans does better than a bad Pharah against a bunch of hitscans. You can switch and still get completely smashed, but it can change the tides to your side (which you won’t know if you don’t try).
Again, it’s not about being bad, but understanding you’re not being able to benefit the team and still refusing to try something else. You have to keep in mind that a team based game is not only about you and even if it’s not comp, take in consideration the other people’s feelings too.
But you need to hear where the enemies come from. You’re nerfing 60% of your skills if you don’t listen.
Just report them. I became a toxic reporter.
Anyway, if I want to train with Tanks/Supports, I need a good 2-2-2 otherwise I’m wasting time in feeding 5-8 min.
Sorry, Mystery Heroes is broken. Not good for me. Only in my first 100 levels it was useful.
Why not join a group where you can find regulars to play with?
How to combat QP toxicity:
-
Don’t play
-
If you ignore step 1, then firstly, tell them “it’s just qp dude, chill”
-
Switch to Widow
-
Mute and report the person immediately, even if there’s a firefight going on
-
?
-
Profit!
I don’t hear anything or see any of those toxicity anymore. The start of the match i just mute the team and the enemy team and play the game. Makes the game fun.
Just in case anyone doesn’t see this quoted reply as a joke: please don’t do any of these things. Actually, #3 can sometimes be useful.
I don’t justify toxic behavior, but man after the PTR going back to the mess of QP on live made me so cringe, i’m probably not going to play that mode till it’s hit live.
Just a heads up, QP ius not “just for practice”. QP is just the main mode of the game where the majority of the players are. Nothing more, nothing less
