I will never understand why that gamemode is taken so seriously.
Because Overwatch at its core is a competitive team based game and will attract people who want that. Doesnât matter what mode you play. People like winning and having good matches, which usually result when everyone actually tries.
I will never understand why people cannot understand this.
Doesnât matter if itâs not ranked you should still go in with the intent to win and not blatantly throw.
Because overwatch is by design a competitive game.
If you want a mode that isnt competitive i suggest skirmish or custom lobbies.
I absolutely understand that itâs a competitive video game, Iâm not ignorant of how Overwatch should be played. I donât mind when itâs a fair fight. What I do mind is when people resort to griefing in order to win. Thatâs the real issue I was trying to get at.
I mean youâre rightâŠbut itâs also not âgoof aroundâ or âjust practiceâ modeâŠ.its the core gameâŠthereâs just no rewards for ending up with a set amount of wins or w/e
People are free to apply whatever amount of intensity/seriousness they want
Ok, thatâs fair enough.
I get what youâre saying and agree with it, but this is slightly different than what you implied originally.
Taking a casual mode seriously does not automatically assume someone is toxic which is what you clarified.
There are a lot of posts on here complaining about people who âsweatâ in QP or making fun of people when they counter-swap, when all those people are doing is literally playing the game as designed and intended.
Youâre simply referring to toxic people behaving inappropriately and has nothing to do with someoneâs desire to try and win.
They arenât if them âgoofing aroundâ is ruining the match for 9 other people aka throwing. That is basically trolling for fun at the expense of everyone else.
By all means donât play your best, that is fine (itâs what comp is for) but at least make some sort of minimum level effort is all most people would want in QP regardless of win/loss.
just jump into ranked and no one takes it seriously.
it absolutely is though. without going into ranked or scrims, qp is objectively the best way to practice.
Ok, so the title of the post differs from the real problem I was trying to point out.
Because most of the people who do take it insanely seriously should play comp but are scared to and make it everyone elseâs problem.
Thatâs it.
How would one define what is or is not âtoo seriousâ?
QP is the mode to practice new heroes, try out new strategies, try to get achievements, hang out and have fun with friends without the pressure of needing to do anything to win.
Some people choose to be competitive in QP (and they can do that), but theyâre being competitive in a mode with the people I mentioned above
ye sure, is lovely to try to practice widow or hammond and someone go sombra.
is lovely to practice when you are matched into gm in qp
what a wwonderful useless ââpracticeââ
I didnât actually say they couldnât, because I have no right to control how people play this game.
Oh, Iâm agreeing with you. People take QP seriously because theyâre afraid to play comp, but they are still competitive people. They need to just play comp.
You do relise that the people you mentioned can still be competitive?
You can be try new heroes, new strategies, try to get achievements, have fun, while still being competitive.
competitive doesnt mean you need to try hard or only play meta. As long as you making a attempt to win that is being competitive.
Quickplay also isnt Arcade or a Custom Game
Playing better than me = too serious.
Playing worse than me = throwing.
