so we wanted to queue on smurfs and play a little for the lolz on a lower rank. and a friend took his unranked smurf. we all where on plat now he finished on 3.4 last season. Queueing was not possible even tho he was NOT RANKED. Now i’m not complaining here i actually think this is good. but is there any confirmation? does it actually take ur rank for previous seasons into account?
So destroy lower ranks and how the system determains SR and MMR as smurfs is fun. Gee, thank you for ruining the game for those of us in lower ranks who try and actually play at our SR.

Pretty sure the SR limit has been silently implemented for players in placements. I’ve heard many stories of people outside their SR limits being able to queue for one game (during placements) but not after that game, if that explains how things work for you.
Yes, the grouping limitations apply during placements now.

it is actually unfair yes. so i’m actually happy they changed it im not mad at all. cause it could happen to me as well. Imagininging to have to play against a top 500 in a master games sounds super nasty.
