Question to the Moderators - Blizzard Balance Advisor and Affliate Breaks Code of Conduct on Livestream

(Addition: For clarification, this may be out of moderators hands, and It would be incredibly helpful for a moderator to participate and inform us what can/can’t/should be done. My proposal may be out of bounds and unreasonable, and a dialogue would clarify immensely)

It has come to the Community’s attention that [Removed], a popular Overwatch streamer and Blizzard affiliate and advisor, has broken multiple rules stated within the Forum Code of Conduct. While this behavior was exhibited on the Youtube streaming platform, it was shown in relation to active forum members, allowing for recourse by forum moderators.

On several occasions, he had targeted forum users in a manner that would potentially get this post banned should he be quoted. Throughout his stream he had displayed the following rule breaking behaviors as outlined in the Code of Conduct:

Inappropriate Language

This category includes language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

  • Are a mildly inappropriate reference to human anatomy or bodily functions
  • Are otherwise considered objectionable
  • Bypass the Mature Language filter

If a player is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:

  • Be given a temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity

Harassing or Defamatory

This category includes both clear and masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

  • Insultingly refer to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people
  • Result in ongoing harassment to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people

If a player is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:

  • Be given a temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity

Harassment takes many forms, and is not necessarily limited to the type of language used, but the intent. Repeatedly targeting a specific player with harassment can lead to more severe action. The idea behind this is to prevent any one player from consistently being uncomfortable in the forums.

Spamming or Trolling

This category includes:

  • Excessively communicating the same phrase, similar phrases, or pure gibberish
  • Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums
  • Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
  • Making non-constructive posts
  • Abusing the Reported Post feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages
  • Numbering a thread, IBTL, TLDR, or any other fad statements

If a player is found to have participated in such actions, he/she will:

  • Be given a temporary or permanent ban from the forums, depending upon severity

It reflects poorly on the company when a streamer who is so closely and professionally affiliated with the Overwatch brand begins to target Blizzard forum users. Reasonable repercussions would be a temporary on permanent ban on his forum accounts, as outlined in the Code of Conduct.

[Removed]

I’m am sure fellow users will help chronicle the scenario in relation to themselves.

Forum Moderator Note: The forums are not meant as a personal message to employees, teams, departments, or similar. Additionally, naming and shaming other players is not appropriate. The forums are meant for discussing feedback around Overwatch.

If you see a post that breaks the rules, please flag it for review. If you see someone on other platforms breaking their rules, please report them through the appropriate methods on those platforms.

The thing is, I don’t think he broke forum CoC just because he didn’t post anything. If he did I don’t think it was much at all. CoC only really applies to actual posts.

YouTube CoC however could be a different story.

That is why this is an open question to the forum moderators. At the very least, they can tell me that, and explain whether this is or is not out of their hands. Because this very much is a Blizzard problem.

Remember that this guy has direct contact with the developers in a private discord server

Whatever…

His aggressiveness was not warranted, but people are going to such extent that it’s annoying. He just can’t react like that in the future, but I just can’t agree with a punishment. Many people do basically the same thing on the forums, so CoC is kinda childish to apply. Nevertheless, he’s a public figure and should watch what he says, because he is sorta an influencer.

Agreed

Sorry he streamed a public service. Even of you ban him, his forums account is ever used and only promoted non biased posts.

Thats all he wanted. Finding unbiased people

Which is why I personally believe this is a potential Blizzard PR issue if this creator exhibits similar behavior later down the line. Were this a random youtuber, I don;t believe this would be a problem. I agree in a vacuum

now you are whining like him. spamming or trolling doesnt even make sense.

harassment is based upon opinion of what is defined as. and if he does say those words is it really what the reason is behind the message or does it have to be spelled out? most of the time hes just saying that the reason why x comment is wrong is because of x reason, but he throws screaming in there

inappropriate language yes this counts technically but this is a stupid reason because the coc does not apply to every platform.

Someone should make a lawsuit out of this and earn some mooneehhhh

I am literally incapable of quoting some of his lines on this forum due to banned vulgarity. He is unfortunately for Blizzard representing the brand right now, showcasing actions that we, random users, couldn’t get away with.

Like what? People talk like that on here and never have been banned, why should he?

One would imagine it would apply in relation to the platform, however. What this ignores is his status with the company. He should be held to a higher standard because of his developer interaction. I just want him held to the same standard we are.

He did not use inappropriate language when posting himself. I’m actually in defense of streamers being able to say whatever they want on their own stream, despite how toxic/crying it may be

Absolutely. Pulling up 100 people’s profiles and saying they don’t matter/their opinions are invalid if they have moira/brig icons/mains/low ranks

Its a weird line though as he didn’t do this in a post, but just on the stream

He is arguably the BIGGEST influence on the game though.

His Moira tweet is #1 trending immediately on twitter in the gaming space, just to give an example, with 500K impressions on it

And then how he’s in the dev discord actively talking to them about balance…

every update:
devs: ok new update lets see how this runs this is a great idea
players: warfare!!!

He’s not an advisor he’s just a streamer. I wish he was but these changes prove indefinitely he is not. I mean if u think he is ur cracked

Hey remember when the Devs said they’d check peoples social media and it would have consequences on their actual accounts.

He is a part of the professional/influencer advisory discord, which allows him to lobby and and advise the developers.

I’d petition the judge to allow cameras and Samito fans and enemies in the courtroom. Imagine Samito’s stream in court. The cells would be full of Samito fans and haters in contempt of court.

this post is completely and utterly brainless.

Care to elaborate and to provide helpful criticism and/or general disagreements? That is what this thread is for, so you are free to comment to me at least.
