Question: How do Hanzo's arrows work?

Hey everyone. Not really sure how to word this so that Google understands what I mean, so I figured I could just ask here. I’ve only been playing Overwatch for a few months, so I still have a lot to learn, so forgive me if this is common knowledge that I should already know.
I’ve just been wondering how Hanzo’s primary fire projectiles travel. Do they travel perfectly straight, landing where the crosshair was when they were fired, or are they like an arrow in Minecraft or Team Fortress 2, which will start falling downwards if they fly long enough without hitting anything?

They do indeed fall, starting from the moment they’re fired.

They are giant tree trunks that fly in an arc and hits anything, even when perceived out of LOS.

There’s an arch to them, but it honestly doesn’t really affect the trajectory in the majority of the situations Hanzo’s typically in.

That’s good to know. I had a hunch that this was the case. I suppose I gotta just experiment to find the sweet spot for sniping, then? I want to make sure that I aim high enough to hit my target’s head rather than a bodyshot.

For the most part its, ‘aim higher than you think’ if you want to dink heads. Though I can’t play hanzo to save my life so your mileage may vary.

If you are using the default crossair, you usually want to aim whit some point between the first point and the second.

Let’s say that this is the crossair:

------°------ Between this
----°---- And this
—°---

Try him out a bit in the Training range. Do it like an experiment (I aim just above this bot’s head at this range and my arrow ends up falling x distance). After you’'ve established how much it drops, then try playing him in the practice range a bit more so you can get a feel for how to compensate at different distances and while targets are in motion, etc. After that, go to Aim Arena and shoot at targets at different ranges for a while. You’ll probably have to do this several times and make parts of this into a practice routine, but it should help give you a feel for where to aim while in game.

The arc on his primary use to be more obvious when his projectile speed was much slower, but now it’s barely that much noticeable unless you’re trying to shoot from a far distance. In that case, you have a lot of prediction to do if you are trying to shoot at target ~30M (Room Distance) away.
