Question about streaming

So…I decided to get back into streaming…

I bought a webcam. But I’m torn. Watching a streamer, would you prefer to see their face on the camera or their mouse hand? I don’t know which to do

Face, unless youre a god

Also, just get 2 cameras. Cheap hd cam for hand is like 10 bucks.

my understanding on stereaming is you want to see their face

Most people will want to see your reactions. Mouse cams are mostly (but not always) useful for speedrunners for proof standards.

I’m a teacher :sob: I don’t get paid enough for that

Alrighty, good to know.

Thanks y’all!

It’s your stream, you do whatever you like. Though I think most people just show themselves on cameras, mouse hand is mostly for crazy good players who are trying to prove they’re not aimbotting.

Personally I usually keep my camera on my dog, people will want to see her more than me.

This question blew my mind…but I’ve always been out of touch with streaming

That’s the only reason I got a webcam in the first place :sob:

The sales are usually scams anyway. They’re never actually cheaper if some places are selling items for it’s original price before the price went up a few months prior.

Face camera, hand if you are incredibly good

A few tips

Keep talking

The worst mistake I see small streamers make is to stay quiet and stare at the screen
It’s not interesting,

Keep talking even if you’re alone, that way you practice

Creating accounts on other platforms (Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube) and creating shorts is a way to attract people

Be frequent and make it clear how often you stream

During the queue, try to play other games and don’t just focus on OW, maybe play other things, OW doesn’t always have something going on but when another game is popular and other streamers are playing them, focus on OW because the competition is lower

If you have a pet, interact, people love animals

What defines incredibly good here

Yeah, I try to! It’s difficult sometimes though lol

I have a YouTube! I might branch out to Tiktok as well, we’ll see

Ooh, I never thought of doing that!

Thanks for the tips, man!

play with someone and keep talking

out of the ordinary, (like Zbra, Necros, Kephrii…), hitting shots is common, hitting shots from strange angles or with incredibly fast movement is out of the ordinary

You are the product, and if you are not doing anything, the product is not interesting and the queue is the longest time it takes for you to do something because there is no game to distract you and create content.

So play something else or watch a video, but do something

A tip is to watch other small streamers and see what they do, what you like, copy it, what you don’t like, avoid doing it.

If you are going to do it for long periods, have a comfortable environment and water
If you have a pet, interact with it, people love animals

Qp is not interesting to me, nor are certain characters, and if you are not very good (GM/Champion) it is not a problem as long as you have an objective, something that makes whoever is watching want to see you succeed or fail.

In terms of characters, I find it boring to see someone playing Moira, Mauga, Bastion for example (one of each role), because normally there is nothing happening, characters that are more active I find more interesting (Lucio, Genji, Doom).
