How come I can dash through 4 people as genji and get called a god. But get nice arishot on valking mercy as junk and get called “no skill rat” ¯_(ツ)_/¯. On a more serious note Junk’s too hard to play rn. Hard meaning to be effective
It is all subjective. Apparently it is really easy to just click heads with Widowmaker. A lot of really skilled tank and support mains said it and we know how reliant those heroes are critical hits.
I miss year one junkrat now, he’s not fun to play anymore and yet I can’t stop. I laugh when I see Chipsa going, “widow is such a balanced hero” like chips…she’s been around awhile…
Oh, man, that is the only Junkrat I played. I played him back when people raged that you chose him on offense. Back when homie only had one mine and used to damage himself. That was when he was fun. All of my hours are from that time, basically.
The projectile nerf was the nail in the coffin for me. It’s hansrat now
Don’t worry about what skill is defined as. It doesn’t matter, because there will always be someone to call you a brainless idiot in some capacity.
For me though, the most logical definition of skill for esports in general is consistency. That is the basis of everything, how consistent or inconsistent you are at doing something is the leading factor in determining how good a player is. That’s before even getting into the skill floor and ceiling of characters though, and I assume most of the trouble arises from the existence of such a system, in the difference of skill requirement to skill ceiling.
I would agree completely, still can be frustrating to hear. I’m used to the old days where the only smack-talk was the enemy team…not your teammates. New generation I guess
I miss when banter was acceptable, and wasn’t so egregiously present outside of jokes.
How to know if its skill or not.
If it kills the enemy its no-skill, no matter what you do.
Skill is everything else.
This community has been calling junk no skilled since launch, probably earlier but that’s before my time. While there are brainless heroes in Overwatch, Junk isn’t one of them.
Sounds like people just being toxic to you over nothing.
Usually when people are talking “skill” they only mean placing their mouse over an enemies head and hitting the LMB.
You are correct, though, Junkrat aiming takes far more skill than aimbros are willing to give him. Only because they think of the residual of the shot. Many people just fill a choke with bombs and call it “playing junkrat”.
But if you are actively picking a target and hitting that target with Junkrat, you are far better at aiming and predicting your enemies than the average Aimbro.
I have to admit, when I first started this game I absolutely hated Junkrat, and was happy for any nerf he got. But now? I realized that as you play more he’s really wasn’t that big of a deal even when he wasn’t nerfed. He was avoidable and you just had to look up to the high ground occasionally to dodge those grenades, and don’t feed him. So yeah in retrospect the projectile size nerf was unneccessary.
Realistically a lot about junk wasn’t needing to be nerfed. But then again, same with a lot of other heroes. Junk is not about precision, he’s about prediction.
I enjoyed Junkrat way before his buff to not take damage from his grenades, but it was nice
No matter the hero someone will think you are a no skill scrub. just beep hello to them and kill them again in game.
Only genji mains consider him a HIGH-SKILL hero the rest of players know he is a VERY-LOW skill hero similar to Pharah, Junkrat etc.
High Skill heros are Widowmaker, Mccree, Tracer, Ana, Zeny for example Not genji
On the forum I find skill is based on how difficult it is to play an unbalanced hero effectively and justify nerfs and buffs accordingly.
Tracer + Widow main here. I consider Genji to be a high-skill hero, along with Doomfist.
