Question about reducing input lag and ipv6

Dear players,

I got 2 questions and i really hope u can help me to get a right answer.

  1. If i set any game to low priority it might help with input lag ? The idea of more fps so less input lag is okay, but i read that some people was testing it in overwatch and getting higher priority or real time cost 1 ms of delay for 2 frames. If it works in another way ? If i put my priority to normal or low i will have smaller input lag ? I understand that this depends on graphic settings etc etc but only priority in task manager bother me.

  2. If i used tcp optimizer, made changes for straight ip v4 settings and sudden my internet provider change my ipv4 to ipv6 and i asked to bring me back ip v4 after one day, should i made again whole changes by tcp optimizer? In the modem every fowarded port get back to its place like i did ages ago but this sudden change from them also affect my pc settings that i make while ago ? And i need to repeat it again ?

Howdy!

  1. Not sure what you mean by low priority. I would recommend if you use QoS software within the OS or at the router to give Overwatch/gaming the highest priority. You should also try to disable QoS completely if you have any issues. High FPS can help ensure you get the most of your latency. Try going to Options -> Video -> Turn on Reduce Buffering. For smooth action you can enable Vysnc and limit your monitor to Display Based, if you are trying to go for extreme keep Vsync off and change Limit FPS to Custom(Max it out) Keep an eye on your GPU/CPU temps if they get hot lower this. Note this can add screen tearing.

  2. I don’t think you will need a TCP Optimizer but I do think you should check the following for the best performance:

  • You should use IPv6 if your ISP supports it.
  • Make sure your modem/router firmware is fully upto date.
  • Portforwarding can be helpful but if you have no issues connecting or patching.

Thank you!
