In the first Overwatch, the in-game chat all worked as expected. In Overwatch 2 however, I’ve noticed the following 3 changes: -
-
The in-game chat is recorded in game clips that I record on the Xbox, however not my own voice - just anyone else on my team who talks. For example, if my friend says “nice ult!” and I reply “thanks!”, then I capture a clip and play it back, I will hear them saying “nice ult!”, but not me saying “thanks!”. In OW1, no in-game chat was ever captured in game clips.
-
If I attempt to change the balance between game sounds and voice chat, it doesn’t work. Instead, it works like a volume control, so either both get louder or both get quieter. That really sucks, cos if someone has a quiet mic, there’s nothing I can do about it.
-
If I’m in an Xbox Live party, I not only hear people in my party; I can still hear people talking in game chat too, even if they are not in my party, however, they can’t hear me. In OW1, when I was in a a party, I could only hear people in the party, not people in game chat.
It’s like the in-game chat is being treated as game audio now, rather than something separate. It’s completely messed up.
I have tried doing a full factory reset of my console. I’ve tried using different controllers and headsets. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Nothing has helped, and OW2 is the only game where I have this issues.
Do any other Series X owners notice the same things?
EDIT: -
So I have confirmed with some friends that what I said above applies to the Xbox Series consoles, but not Xbox One and Xbox One S/X, where the audio works as it did in Overwatch 1.
What is going on, Blizzard??
