If you toss a sigma hypersphere through the amp matrix, and it bounces off a wall back through the amp matrix, does the damage get increase by 4 times rather than 2? I’ve never tested this out for myself so I don’t know, but I would love to find out!
It doesn’t. It only get effected once (tried it with Moira orbs too!)
ps Effected or Affected? I never get this right.
It might. I know genji deflecting things back can double it again.
Edit: never mind then.
That I didn’t know… But, surely you would need a second matrix, because it isn’t owned by the same team on the genji deflect.
So the deflected item would need it’s own team matrix to work.
Hmm, maybe. The example I think I saw might have had 2 matrices. I think it was an experiment when he released, so probably not a likely scenario.
iirc amp matrix and damage boosts only increase the rate in which the orb damage is dealt, but the total damage done by the orb is still the same as if it wasn’t boosted at all.
That would make sense!
But, I can’t discount bugs.
Yes, you are right there!
Technically, it doesn’t double your damage anyways, but instead adds a +100% modifier each time – else Nanoboost + Mercy + Matrix would equate to 390% damage instead of a “mere” 280% – so it’d only be 300% damage.
But, no, it doesn’t. It’s only affected (once) or not at all.
Discord however DOES stack as a multiplier, which is one of the reasons discord is so good.
I am not sure about Matrix, I SUSPECT it multiplier stacks on projectiles at least.
Time to go testing!
Yup, yup. You see the same additive buffs but multiplicative sabotage in most MMOs that try not to oblige buff-stacking as well.
And, yes, it does. A Discorded target will take 260% damage from shots through an Amp Matrix, last I checked.
Only if it passes through your own Amp Matrix after being deflected after having passed through theirs. And in that case it will be multiplicative, iirc, since the calculations are made at separate times. Twice Amped (from two different Amps) = 4x damage… I think — I’d need to test it again; fuzzy memory.
Oh yeah, now that you mention this, I remember the example I saw being done with Deadeye and the damage number was insane. xD
I worked on an MMO which had a mutable vs immutable bug in damage stacking.
If an AOE hit, every damage mod applied earlier in the stack was applied to the damage to later ones.
Aka, if you slapped an bunch of damage mods on mobs, and slapped them with an AOE attack, you could oneshot the boss trivially.
It took people QUITE some time to track it down. Because the tests they wrote all had the attack effecting the boss FIRST.
That was the day people moved in general to immutable structures for passed messages in the game. (it was Actor based and should have been all immutable anyway)
Affected
Affect = change/impact
Effect = the result of the change
Thank you!!! That is super helpful.
Effected if the wind blows east, and affected if there was a bag of half eaten kettle corn in your kitchen.
That is kind of how I used it.
Put one in, see if anyone complains.
Affected :). Effected is not a word but effect is. Affect is a verb while effect is a noun
