The leavers change is one we have already seen play out in comp.
The sky didn’t fall, leavers is less of a problem, people didn’t spend all their time soft throwing outside of groups in any large numbers, because they got banned.
QP will look like comp. It isn’t like we don’t already know how leaver punishments look in OW given some modes have had them for years.
It will all work out, and the people crying that people will just AFK forever, and work out various devious ways around it, don’t understand that we have already been here.
This experiment has already run, we already have the results.
QP will be a better experience in a few weeks.

Comp bann pushed comp players into qm, turning it ever so slightly unfun.
Now they pushing players away completely. It will end with just the hardcore duds that feast every thrash blizz throws them to eat on.
Stupid unbalanced games? Definitely players fault /s
All this is Blizz pushing the responsibility and problem onto their player base again with a lazy fix.

I don’t consider habitual leavers as players. They don’t play the game. They leave and shop for dopamine highs.

you will always have people hate on tryhards and people hate on casuals not trying at all.
we should not be playing the same game.
as theres no official idgaf mode we won’t ever all be happy.
unless theres a serious mode and a idgaf mode.
i for my part can’t wait for more serious games.
others might get sad they have to go arcade or ai to have funny idgaf matches.
It could easily go in the other direction. Games with leavers are pretty trash, so having them happen less could bring more people in.
Should be Competitive and Quick Play like in Overwatch 1.

If leaver penalties were so “glorious” and solved all problems. the sweaty try-hards would not of had to leave comp and have to find a new mode.
Most of this is blood lusting behavior from the schoolyard bullies that have to find victims and prey on them for the sake of fueling their ego tanks and they are rejoicing that this is a solution…
and then 4 hours later they come here pouting that “their” game-mode is suddenly SATURATED with "throwers’ and demanding perma bans… and then their solution is casuals are now to go “Go play custom matches”. or “find other games”.
The arrogance is a tragedy and a comedy in itself. They cant get along with others, yet they demand people have to remain in matches and play games with them, all because they dont want to be respectful to one another. truth be told.

You do realise that the ones playing comp don’t typically have to deal with leavers or throwers right?
It generally worked in comp, which is why Blizzard is applying it to QP.
And comp is bascially dead. It has much less players than former qm. So they will just ruin it too.

I’ll try quickplay again in 2 weeks time. In the meantime, I won’t be playing Overwatch unless I feel like playing ranked. Which is the only game mode that’s worth playing in OCE.
Unranked in OCE feels even more unbalanced now somehow and doesn’t feel good to play. It’s a shame because I really wanted this new system to be good for the game.

I mean, yeah, which likely colors my view of the whole debate to be honest.
Hopefully it’s more successful than what I’ve seen in Comp because I’ve still encountered leavers there, sadly. Climbing out of silver, and even gold, sucked royally not because of ELO hell or the usual lines; it was because in my experience it was all too common to have a weakling drop out of the game and scupper it for everyone remaining.
Ranked still has tons of leavers.
Ppl will also start leaving again in the moment they realized they can get banned for afk.

It’s not so much about leavers but about the quality of matchmaking in general. Even if nobody leaves, a lot of the matches are still very one sided in quickplay right now.
Quickplay wasn’t this bad in S6 so I’m guessing it’s just bad now because players are returning and the algorithm is having a hard time adjusting where they should be. So I’ll come back in 1 - 2 weeks time to see the results of this leaver change.
Mhm. There’s actually not really a reason to play QP anymore, or even really to play OW as a casual game anymore.
W/e. Another change, another step from the game’s roots, what else is new.
A more toxic more competitive experience, but without the occasional gap in the game due to leavers.
If that’s better for you, that’s great.
It’s the final nail in the mode for me.

How is that different from before?
Every single season it’s the same. Matchmaking is ruined for few weeks because of returning players. Why aren’t other games like this? Blizzard really needs to prioritise regular players experience and not match them with old returing players who has old MMR.
