QP is trash, always has been, and always will be

I am a plat 1 dps player, and diamond 4 support, but when playing QP, I lose 7 out of 10 games, and when I say lose I mean a total overrun, my team may have 1 or 2 kills in total.

So if I as an above average player, lose at least 70% of my games in QP, how many do the lower ranked players lose?

QP needs a matchmaking system, because as it is, it’s a joke!

And for those that say new players get to face new players are wrong!
I’ve had so many players with newly accounts with 1 hour playtime, I’ve lost count!

I mean no, just play comp if winning is your only goal.

Where did I say winning was my only goal?
And losing 70% or more in QP due to extremely uneven teams is not a problem?
Why do you think the playerbase is shrinking?
And I already stated my ranks in competitive, but I guess you are unable to read?

It’s implied.

No, it’s not a problem. Teams are always going to be uneven in quick play because it’s quick, and it allows groups to have wide ranges in skill.

The mode isn’t made to have strict matchmaking.

Yes, I’m unable to read. I’m totally not saying you should avoid qp and stick to comp, it’s actually me being illiterate.

Out of curiosity, is there literally no attempt at matchmaking in QP, or is it just very loose?

No, it’s not implied at all, what is implied is why it would make sense to lose 70% or more in QP being totally overrun everytime, since I am ranked above average, that says something about how extremely uneven the games are!

And new players are forced to win 50QP before playing their placements!
How fun is that if you lose more than 70% of you QP games?

That makes you unable to read and understand, and that makes you an illiterate as you said yourself.

You never stop to ask yourself why the que time increases all the time? Because the lack of players, I qued at least 10-15min in high masters in season 8, and now I have que times averaging 6-8min in high plat/low diamond.

With a QP system that extremely unbalanced, and QP is forced upon new players before competitive, it’s not fun losing more than 70% if the games!

I think it’s loose. I frequently see players my rank in my QP games (gm).

But I think it’s very loose since my ranked support queues can be 15+ mins but 1-2 mins for QP

My point exactly! It’s a lose, and a loss of potential new players, who are forced to win 50QP before being able to enter competitive.

I had que times 10-20mins in high masters in season 8 as support, and now in season 9, I have 6-8mins or even more in high plat/low diamond as both dps and support.

And yes, QP is pretty much instant, 1-2mins as you said.

You’re in a higher bracket. Even though matchmaking in qp is loose, it still exists, and new players aren’t going to be going against the same players you are unless they’re duo.

You must not have been around for ow1.

Maybe, maybe not. I don’t have fun based on winning or losing, nor do most people :woman_shrugging:t2:

I havent had a rank since season 6.

I play qp exclusively.

I see gm title holders sometimes in my lobbies. Not a lot, but its not unusual for me.

Qp is my jam, OP wants that mode to be more like comp. I echo paws in this, why not just play comp only then, if qp is that upsetting? :man_shrugging:

It’s crazy to me that queue times in diamond can be 6-8 mins. I basically quit playing ranked (and OW broadly) lately with my queue times. I probably wouldn’t play ranked if I had 8 min diamond queues.

So it sounds like the MM for Comp is tuned for balance, while the MM for QP is built around speed. So when the player pool shrinks (like at the end of a season), Comp queue times get long while QP match quality drops.

I don’t play Comp but I have definitely seen QP match quality drop near the end of a season.

You didn’t read my og post did you! I already said that I got so many players with new accounts with 1 hr played in total I lost count, so no, new players don’t have their own pool anymore, haven’t had for at least a couple seasons.

No, I didn’t play OW1, and that still has nothing to do with how the game is right now!

And still, OW2 is continuing it’s loss of players, wonder why? Maybe the game is not fun, especially the matchmaking in competitive, and the lack of it in QP.

Wasn’t always. Shouldn’t be. Yet we continue treating it like trash.

Why do we allow the main mode to decay so much?

I do play a lot of competitive, but as I said in other responses, que time last season in high masters were 10-20mins, 20mins que for a 10min game, yes, that is fun.

And this season in high plat/low diamond que time average is 6-8mins, sometimes more. While QP is like 1-2mins que time.

I find QP just the opposite. I win more in QP. I tried Comp and lost 70% of the time. So, that tells me I am where I should be … in QP

Dps is by far the most popular role. Not even close. High elo games are also notorious for lengthy ques, ask sombrasfeet. Its the price to pay for a matchmaker that supposed to attempt to make a “level playing field.”

Que times are so dependent on what your rank and role selected are. I understand your frustration, but qp is meant to be the inverse of comp mmr imo. Quick que times are must, its not called slowplay ya know.

They’re either duo’d with someone on the team or they’re smurfing.

Neither of which will be fixed or prevented by making qp comp lite unless you want to outrite ban duos and let smurfs stay in new player lobbies.

Do you really think that Overwatch is losing players because its quick play isn’t just competitive without the rank?

It’s just as precise as ranked, the difference is accuracy. The one you’ve played more of is going to be more precise, however due to qp having no visible stakes gives people purchase to not try as hard as they normally would in ranked, causing it to be less accurate in general.

Smurfing with like 0 kills?
As I said you didn’t read my og post, where I said my team got 1-2kills in total.
Yes, a part of it, as I said new players will not find a game compelling if you start losing more than 70%.
And if you take competitive, with the new wide range search, matchmaking can be extremely uneven in competitive. I got a silver 2 tank duod with a diamond 4 mercy, while the other team got a diamond 4 tank and a silver 1 lucio, guess which tank made more impact?
