There are some good and bad things about it. Overall I like it more than the current 5v5 role queue or 5v5 open queue systems.
Pros:
- Switch roles: now without throwing! Prevents the 4 DPS comps that happen in open queue when players get frustrated.
- 2 tanks allows more interesting team comps. Ball and Doomfist are far more viable when a 2nd tank can stay with the team.
- Fight isn’t over immediately when tank dies
- More fun imo. I’d rather play this than either regular queue mode
Cons:
- 2 tanks is almost mandatory, 2 supports is reccomended.
- When only 1 player is in the tank/support role, hero viability of that role is limited. You can’t solo heal as Zen, no matter how hard you try…
- Limits viability of some DPS heroes. Cassidy struggles a lot more against dual tank
- Greater reliance on Ana’s anti-heal against dual tank.
Overall, I like it. I’m not sure if it’s better than role queue 6v6, but it certainly has some advantages. Could be more fun for less coordinated teams (quick play with randos). But in my opinion nothing beats open queue 6v6 with a good team.
