QP 6v6 is a complete shambles

It’s so bad it’s a joke with stupid team comps.

My first game this morning the other team ran 6 dps for the 1st 2 points on defence then finally one switched to support but they just got stomped.

Next game I was solo tank with 4 dps and 1 support, who happened to be lucio and then switched zen.

Next game we had 1 support again - the same lucio from last game - and he did 491 healing for the entire game. The strange thing was, nobody flamed him in chat. Everybody just accepted the stomp silently.

3 games in and it’s obvious few players seem to care about forming proper teams in QP. I guess OQ 5v5 was just as bad though? Perhaps this is just the norm for OQ? I’ve dabbled in classic and a few games of 6v6 before, but it never seemed this bad.

I played last night too and the teams were just as much of a mess, so it’s not just a 1-off today.

Are they keeping 6v6 next season? I thought I might give comp a try to see if that’s any better, but not really wanting to do placements in the last week of the season.

Yes, 6v6 QP is a clown fiesta. I’m also pretty sure at this point that genuinely new players get shunted into this mode which doesn’t help.

The Comp mode is pretty cool, though. Out of my ~170 games, the vast majority have seen 2-2-2 being run on my team; there was one game with a solo tank start to finish, and a few where it started out with a solo tank, but then someone swapped to co-tank when it was clear it wasn’t going to work. Unfortunately, it’s like you say: it’s end of season, there’s a drive going on, placement matches are of a crappy quality.

QP, both RQ and OQ, seem like a dumpster fire right now, so I might just ride out the end of season playing other games. Or I might just hop on with a mind to grinding out for the last couple of lootboxes, I dunno.

why are people mad at wierd comps in OQ? isn’t that the whole rizz with OQ that you don’t have to run 222 and are free to play whatever you want? well yeah all 6 players do what they want.

It certainly is the more competetive mode, I say this as an top160 OQ player (and a hard stuck plat RQ player) RQ has no value, only OQ matters. /s

Personally I wouldn’t mind it if the matchmaking was a little bit more, uh, present.

My experience on EU servers is that 6v6 QP and Comp times are similar, but weirdly enough, the quality of the games is drastically different. My advice to anyone reading is to not bother with 6v6 QP at all, and to give Comp a whirl instead. I’d also advise readers to wait until Tuesday but the devs haven’t mentioned whether Max 2 Tanks is coming back next season so… I dunno on that front.

And what was stopping everybody else from swapping to support? Lucio did the right thing by going all in on the throwing when he saw 4 dps and played like a 5th dps. Flaming someone for throwing as solo support while the entire team is throwing with 4 dps would be hilariously stupid

I think peolple who like open queue like the freedom to change role anytime. Not that they want to play weird comp.

Those comps can work, if the players are mentally sound and skilled, but thats like finding a four leaf clover.

That’s what I would have thought, but it doesn’t work out that way. Most games I see too many dps and too few supports or tanks and dps seem very reluctant to (i.e. they don’t) change. Even when it’s obvious the team would do better with another tank or support.

Just as I was typing the above paragraph I got pulled into another game and there were 4 dps and, again, lucio. I picked tank but then I decided I couldn’t be bothered and left within the first timer.

People seem to queue OQ QP so they can play dps with very short queues.

It’s open queue and the side game mode. It’s not going to be taken very seriously, especially in qp.

5v5 open queue quickplay was a waste of time too. And so is Mahvel’s quickplay. It’s unfortunate, but role queue is the way to go if you are trying to quickplay.

I have been playing more quickplay to quickly earn loot and it has been 5v5. Actually, 5v5 quickplay is better than 5v5 ranked. I know this because my Sistah Spice was complaining about how trash 5v5 was while we were throwing for drives (I care more about my 6v6 rank that doesn’t even show up in stats). :skull:

It does seem very stompy and one sided.

However it’s the only mode I’ve found where when there’s no matchmaking issues or cheaters - you can have a really fun game with some tactics.

Yeah I think there’s work to do, but it’s a better overall mode.

Qp oq has a really small population of players, I frequently get almost the exact lobby of players 3 or 4 games in a row

Comp qp is pretty fun though

This would be – and, in the past, was – the logical reason to queue OQ, but DPS wait times are so fast, they’re practically non-existent in 5v5 quickplay. Has been that way since OW2’s launch, at least in the more populated regions/platforms.

They don’t balance it, it’s as simple as that. HP pools need to be reverted. But the devs won’t balance it because they want their players to play the 5v5 modes.

they manage to make something worse out of something that already existed

That’s weird because most of my 6vs6 matches are 2-2-2 on both sides…

On Open Queue Quick Play?

Easily half of all QP matches are one-sided joke matchups
This wouldn’t be so bad if Blizz didn’t ALSO want to give us time-outs for quitting these matches, which is effectively being punished for their failure

It gets like this in end of season. Ive won some 2/0/4 and 1/0/5 and 1/1/4 games.

I find these games fun though. Play comp for the serious games.

The problem is that they shoved 6v6ers and open queue players into a weird hybrid mode that neither asked for. I just wanna play 2-2-2 without people randomly swapping roles mid-game or throwing games on their off-roles. Or ever having to solo tank against 2 tanks.
