idk how many times i have complaint about this. i’m running out of polite things to say. please fix ffs
Same here, the entire lobby gets placed in a different region server
Yeah, it happens sometimes.
There are a bunch of reasons why you might end up on the “wrong” region server. Most of the time, the system works as intended. But occasionally, things go sideways. The two main culprits are:
Matchmaking: If the system can’t find a fair match in your region—maybe due to low player count or weird MMR distribution—it might expand the search to other regions.
ISP routing issues: Sometimes your internet provider takes a strange path to the servers, and the game thinks you’re closer to a different region. These are usually temporary and fix themselves.
Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about it. Overwatch is actually pretty solid when it comes to handling higher ping, so while it’s not ideal, it’s usually still playable.
If you want Blizzard to take a serious look, it would take massive numbers of reports. Like, thousands. Overwatch has millions of players, so a few hundred complaints just blend into the usual background noise of any online service.
Think of it like Netflix—if a few hundred people say they can’t stream, Netflix isn’t going to panic unless their internal systems also show something’s wrong.
TL;DR: It sucks, but it’s rare, and unless it becomes a widespread issue, it’s probably not going to get much attention.
it’s rare before, now it occurs so commonly now that i believe its a bug at this point. I only play quickplay, matchmaking have no business putting me according to MMR.
Just to add, i also got put into japan server with all the players from SEA
As far I’m aware is the same system, just with less constraints on broadening each aspect: ping, queue time and mmr.
Could be a regional problem in terms of routes or simply lower playerbase. The queue time was long?
Quick Play still has MMR.
I was going to ask you to publish some troubleshooting information; however Blizzard in their infinite wisdom have decided that they don’t want people to do that anymore.
You have to use the steps from their now cut down, largely useless article here:
https://us.support.blizzard.com/en/article/37007
and here
https://us.support.blizzard.com/en/article/99037
Copy and paste the links. Blizzard in their infinite wisdom do not let me post links to their own support articles, only other forum posts.
there’s still nothing you can do, unless you find thousands of people with the same problem to all come here and post. Even then, like I said earlier, the game is so massive with so many people that it likely won’t register.
I’m not saying it’s right; but it’s basically a “suck it up and deal with it” type of situation. Unless it’s totally on fire; you’re unlikely to get anywhere. Sorry.
A moderator edited my above post linking to a forum post on the WoW forums advising that the WinMTR/tracert troubleshooting articles have been removed. I am not sure why.
I put some clown emojis in it too, specifically the part advising that Blizzard don’t let me paste links in their forum to their own support website.
This is quite literally censorship. I am not sure why they did this.
There are much, much worse things on this forum that people get away with that are nothing compared to putting some clown emojis and linking to one of Blizzard’s own forums.
I did the winmtr steps before
(been getting this issues on and off so the Tech Support MVP had went through with me on this before).
There were IP address where we can do the WinMTR testing then paste the routing here.
It’s for the support to assist the player and tell us who to notified (ISP, Router setting etc.)
Anyhow, there’s improvement for the past 2 days. I have only gotten 1 JP server… hopefully it keeps up and not revert back every few month
