Punishment for Solo Players

I’m sure this has been discussed plenty of times before, but wow is it unreal how horrible it is to play the game solo nowadays. Here, let me give you a wall of text to read.

For context, I’m currently on Day 5 of my 12-Day Comms Ban. Reading that you would assume I’m some massively toxic player who hasn’t learned how to not be toxic after numerous bans. Hilariously (or not) you would be absolutely wrong. Instead, what is clear as day, is that I am suffering from being mass-reported by duos/trios/quads as I have the audacity to talk back to those who decide to talk trash on me first. I have never been Comms Banned since OW2 came out, and annoyingly this is the first time I have been banned- it is abundantly clear I was mass-reported by 1-2 groups I played with in a single session. I’ve been playing OW since its’ initial release time-to-time and it has never been this awful, with grouped players saying whatever they feel like only for me to receive a punishment the second I meet them with the same attitude.

But why talk back? Why engage in something that doesn’t help my team directly, or help me directly? Simple answer: BECAUSE I SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO. It is a multiplayer video game, one of many I have played in the last decade. It is unreal how online competitive games such as OW2 have devolved into such garbage censorship standards. Forget a mute button, let’s straight-up punish everyone for not immediately being an absolute saint when playing with random people on the INTERNET. Better yet, let’s punish them for having the balls to talk back to those who are talking down to them first! BETTER YET, let’s make the solo-player experience horrible for support players who are doomed to be blamed for anything wrong going on, and let’s allow them to be comms banned the second they want to go against said claims! What. A. Joke.

So now, not only am I struggling as a solo player to win games without direct comms, I am practically guaranteed MORE losses because I have absolutely 0 communication allotted to me. I would love to know what moron decided that THAT makes sense in a competitive video game- and if you argue comms aren’t that big of a factor it’s clear as day you’ve never once played at a higher level in any competitive game. So why should I bother trying to win? What incentive do I have if I am immediately met with challenge-after-challenge entirely unrelated to the mechanics of the game? Why should I not just troll and guarantee the loss for every team I play on for the next 8 days? What do I have to learn from being mass-reported by grouped players other than I should not communicate in a competitive game at all?

Let’s use our brains and make the game better for solo-players, Blizzard. You’re already driving this game into the dirt, I don’t need much to keep this game off my harddrive and continue playing the original (and better) hero FPS at this point.
