I just wanted to share something I noticed. The PTR patching update is blowing up my PC.
It seems like the updater just takes every inch of resource he can get. Which makes my PC unresponsive. This is not that fun as the patch is pretty big as well. Seems like I can’t use my pc normally for some time.
For what it’s worth: I’ve got an i7 2600k, 16gb, windows 10 pc. With a GTX 1070 card.
It would be nice to have some throttling in place.
I’ve got a screenshot, but I’m not allowed to put links in my posts. The screenshot shows that it takes 89,5% of the CPU. The other 10% are my other running applications. No room for anything else

Same issue here, minus the crashing. I have a 4790k, and the BattleNet client is using 100% of it to update the PTR. Upon quitting BattleNet, it goes back down to idle levels.
I have a screenshot of my task manager + BattleNet window, but I can’t post links here, so just take my word for it 
Once it finished downloading the update, everything went back to normal. During the “Finalizing” process and onward, CPU went down to idle usage again. I’ll report back if another update seems to do this again.
(side note: I can’t write “Battle dot Net” without the forums complaining that I can’t post links)
Pretty much the same for me.
Also, my download speed tanks to around the KBs level, yet it still says downloading and whats remaining goes down at the same rate.

I’m having the same issue! At first I thought it was something wrong with my pc because I was playing the live servers while the ptr was downloading. It caused my two death match games frames to massively stutter and character models wouldn’t load up in game. The download speed is also like 134 KBs. When I start the download, my cpu usage skyrockets.
I’m having same issue but in the regular game server.Stock in loading,and kicked of the game.
That something I noticed as well. I paused the PTR download, but my pc was still lagging. I just let it finish and now all is good.
Update speed drops slowly down to bytes every time I resume updating.
I cant play the game,stock loading after that kciks me and say im gonna be penalized for leaving games.
