PTR patch in 2020?

There’s an article saying that the PTR patch won’t go live until January. If it’s true, I won’t be a happy camper. I’m really hoping that this is misinformation.

Someone please tell me this is a misunderstanding.

I really hope so too, cause it’s already been too long for this patch. Another month is not what we need, but some sort of patch is coming in december with the event, so probably is talking a different patch?

Welp. Guess I’ll write off this entire competitive season then. I haven’t even done my placements because I hate double barrier so much

They don’t specify what the mid January patch is, only that live is 1.42 and that something is coming in January (not necessarily 1.43 in Jan). If the ptr goes live next week, there’s time for a patch to go through an average length ptr cycle after that, hitting live in Jan. Perhaps they don’t want tournaments on 1.43 before there’s a chance to see how it settles.

Here’s to hoping?

I’m thinking that too. Jeff did say in an interview there are Hanzo changes coming to next PTR. This “leak” could be referring to the next PTR with those Hanzo changes and others. Would fit into the PTR cycle.

If the current PTR patch isn’t released at the start of Winter Event I will be suprised, then upset, and not play OW for a while.

Ok I’m done. I better start downloading Halo.

If they hold that long then they will kill this game and have no one to blame but themselves. Christmas should be money for them, but if new players come into this hellscape lol kiss any playerbase for 2 goodbye

Hope it’s only for pro play and not for the live servers.

Because delaying this patch will make the whole playerbase angry.

There’s no way they’re just going to let the entire Winter event go through without an update from a month prior, it’s unprecedented. It’s more likely that there was a clerical error.

We need to show Blizzard that we aren’t letting this stand. Make some noise on Twitter, @PlayOverwatch and let them know this isn’t gonna fly.

And if Winter update comes next week with no patch, stop playing. Let the numbers speak for themselves.

This would be unacceptable.

I wouldn’t be shocked if this was true. They have been so slow lately. I can see them holding back patches the “competitive scene”

Ever think that it’s going to be next week maybe with the Winter Wonderland event? You do know it costs Blizzard money to update the games on consoles as it’s not on their launcher. So they are dropping them as the same time. That’s the main reason PTR is only on PC.

The email has been sent to several region’s contender’s teams, that has been confirmed.

That’s a yikes. :eyes:

If they’re delaying this patch, no wonder why we haven’t seen anything of the new hero.

Blizzard you just keep making the wrong moves, losing your marbles I swear.

and they expect this game to stay alive for possibly another 2 years? GL with that.

The leaked screenshot is talking about a mid-January update for the OPR. That’s the pro LAN client, not live servers. That one is still on 1.40 from Oct. 3rd. This is a false alarm. Feel free to ignore it and move along.

No. It’s saying the Contenders games will be played on live and then MOVE to the OPR once the PTR goes to the live game in Mid-January. So that Contenders will continue playing on “live” balance, just on OPR, while live gets the PTR in January.

Okay sure, but it doesn’t say that the January patch is 1.43.0. It could be the following PTR build.

still have my doubts. it makes sense to couple balance and other content with the seasonal events.

True, except live is 1.42, and current PTR would be 1.43, correct?

And the leak says Contenders will play on 1.42 until PTR drops in Mid Januaray.

So how would the January patch not be 1.43?
