Since who ever wrote the article on this new event and skin put this detail only at the very bottom of the article in fine print, I thought it was best to let all the console players here know so they don’t waste money on gifting subs for something they can’t obtain.
I really thought with this upcoming beta and early access in October coming to all consoles the team decided to actually pay attention to the console player base but this is just bad faith and something that could very easily have been put in place, but once again they’ve shown to not care.
Remember that Overwatch 2 will have cross-progression available and you will be able to claim it and use it for all platforms when Overwatch 2 launches and is free-to-play.
But why not make it available in the first place instead of making console players wait until October? I know twitch prime loot boxes and owl tokens are based on battle net and can be obtained on console so is there something different about skins that makes it not possible to do the same?
Did you not stop to think that maybe its because they don’t have a system in place to make it work on OW1 yet?
No.
As usual everyone wants to jump and bump their head into the ceiling. Sorry but after watching this repeatedly over and over, my tolerance is tested. lol
As AndyB explained earlier this is a relatively new system they are trying out. Note we get a code for the drop this time, which means they don’t have the system in place for a direct promotional drop like those other systems. I am hopeful that it may change in the future, but knowing that players can eventually get access to this skin even if they are consoles puts this concern at less of a worry.
Yeah and how long do the codes last for? is this something people are going to sell 2yrs from now for stupid prices, or will there be other ways to get this skin? Will this be our only chance to get this skin?
Hey wyoming thanks for all the work you do on the forums. I always appreciate your posts.
Do you know if I have to redeem on PC. I’m console (PS5) exclusively right now and don’t have a computer to download OW on PC. I’m not gonna complain but I’d like to save 15ish dollars if I won’t even be able to claim the skin.
All you will most likely need to do is connect a Blizzard account with your console account and obviously connect the Blizzard account to your twitch account. The item will be added to your Blizzard account, when the game goes live it will then be shared via crossplay. You don’t need to own a PC to do any of this, just a web browser on your phone will do. You do have phone’s don’t you?
While console players might have to wait till OW2 officially launches, they can still get the skin. I can’t see them doing it any other way as they don’t have that integration setup with OW1.
