Symmetra is so heavily spoken about because so many people are unhappy with Symmetra. We saw the exact same with Mercy before her healing buff. Now? Mercy topics are far and few because she’s good.
Symmetra needs to be given meaningful changes on an experimental card. And no, taking 2 seconds off her TP cooldown is not meaningful.
There’s plenty of heroes as bad as/worse than symmetra, yet they don’t shoehorn their hero into every single discussion regardless of how relevant it is.
sym mains wont be happy until sym is viable in every rank, in every map, with every comp and has no counters while her dps is 400+ and her hp is 250+. Even then, someone will say “but her hibox is huge!”
giving her shield generator would be broken. adding hp to every hero is just not good in general we saw this with brig especially. even though shield is less strong than armor. it recharges so fort. i understand theres counterplay into finding the shield generator… but the strength this would add to genji/tracer so fort… just too much.
she is very powerful against shield and is very good on certain maps like lijang.
her ult is super good.
so what do u wanna see?
6 turrets instead of 3? them all having 1hp each like before instead of 30 hp each (i think thats what they’re at right now).
a teleporter as an ult instead of shield? or maybe being able to choose between both? i dont see an issue with these. but we cant have a shield as her ult while also giving her a small shield as an ability.
giving her autoaim back is too much and just no imo.

If you’re genuinely interested I made this thread outlining the buffs I think she needs. However, I’m completely open to just seeing ANY meaningful changes with the intent of making her a better hero.
honestly i can kinda see the 250 being OK at least i wouldnt have issues as soldier against that. however considering she has so many other things to her kit idk how that’d effect other chars tbh.
could be worth testing out on experimental if it makes ya all happy.

Those are mine. Open at your own risk. The list is big.
Try out few of those. Not everything together:
Bring back full piercing orbs. Adjust RoF for balance, if needed.
Remove orb splash damage, but allow it to pierce again. Orb damage is reduced by half after the first target is hit (that includes barriers) .
Remove distance falloff from her orb splash. If you are in splash range, you take 60 damage (assuming full charged orb) . This make it more reliable to “aim at the ground for splash” like Pharah do since forever.
Make smaller orbs (no charge, partial charge) faster. The more you charge, slower the orb becomes.
Remove ramp-up from her beam. Make it a static damage beam.
Tighten the damage range from her beam. Make the ramp-up mostly a nostalgia mechanic, but make the actual damage decent from the start. Something like, eg, 120-150-180. Make the last tier a 50% buff from base instead of a 200% buff.
Make Photon Shield permanent until destroyed or replaced. Allow Symmetra to earn ult charge while it’s active. This forces the enemy team to deal with the barrier in some way or another instead of waiting it out. It also rewards Sym players that don’t extend the wall in such an angle that an enemy coming back from spawn can shoot at it for free.
Make Photon Shield provides shields to allies that cross through it.
Make Photon Shield apply a slow or discord effect to any enemy that cross through it. The debuff will last until the enemy die, or up to 1 second after the wall is removed from play (broken, expired, or replaced) .
Give her back six turrets.
Make all enemies in range of the turrets be visible through walls, up to 1 second after the enemy is no longer in range (walked away or broke the turret). There is too little sentry in her sentry turrets.
Any enemy that is being hit simultaneously by 3 or more turrets get their mobility abilities locked (same effect as Graviton Surge) , until they are no longer being hit by 3 turrets (move out of range, break them) .
Revert TP changes so that it’s no longer permanent and cooldown starts immediately.
Make TP cooldown start upon destruction, but the actual cooldown depends on how it was broken: If Sym breaks her TP manually, it’s a 4 seconds cooldown. If the enemy breaks her TP, it’s 10 seconds.
Using Sym’s TP will provide the ally some decaying shields. Each team member can benefit from this only once per TP.

edit: i dont like that they annouced that to cover up the ellie scandal so dumb. also they should have said he was gay from the start of the game not later. disagree with it. seemed like an ez way to cover up for the team recruiting a player just cause “she” is a girl. a guy pretended to be a girl doom/genji player top 50 dps ladder NA. only got into the team because of that, had been told he wasnt good enough before lying about his gender.
its the only reason they ever made him gay, people focused more on that than anything else.
I love my gay friends and community thats not what im saying here. all im saying is that its dumb to make him a scapegoat to that situation. Both happened in January 2019
