Basically now that there are more things to do with mythic prisms than you can earn every season, there is now good incentive to save prisms. Here I’ll make the case for why even if you like the new ashe or rein skin, you should wait until the end of the season.
I’ll use myself as an example. For me personally, I think the ashe mythic is a 5/10 and the Rein’s weapon is an 8/10. I could just buy the rein skin because I like it more, but if I have a bit of patience I could wait until the end of the season when next season’s mythic(s) are revealed. The reasoning is simple. Let’s say it’s the last week of season 11 and the season 12 trailer comes out, they reveal a 10/10 d.va skin and a 10/10 Winston Tesla Cannon skin. Normally, I’d have to choose between one and would then have to wait for the other to return to the shop, which would be unfortunate, but since I still have my prisms, I could instead just skip the ashe and rein skins and get both of them. Of course if one or both of the new items aren’t as good, it’s still season 11, so I can still buy the Rein hammer that I wanted.
Basically the only reasons I wouldn’t recommend doing this is if you really loved one of the skins (e.g. you’re an ashe OTP), you don’t care about weapon skins at all, or you are prepared to just buy prisms if there are multiple things you want (You’d have to be insane to do that tbh).
Also remember that you have the options to skip all mythic items just to save the prisms for the future, or to skip some of the upgrade tiers if you don’t care about those customization options to build up prisms
