Seriously, I’ve gotten killed far too often chasing a team mate around while they play their favourite game; the-heals-are-lava!
I don’t know if Blizzard has done something to the walls in the game, coated them in honey or damage medals, but the amount of players who are drawn behind them has been bonkers.
I’ll be winning an easy fight with my team member, thinking the game is in the bag as I heal them through tons of damage, when for no reason… they’ll duck behind a wall, spam “I need healing” and die. Right before messaging, “HEAL!” or “Report healer”…
Sorry, had to vent after a particularly turbulent game.
TL;DR version:
Silliness aside, try to be aware of sight lines with your healers when engaging, this includes not only ducking behind walls but going through shields.
Additional after reading replies:
No, I don’t mean you’re not allowed to hide behind walls. A lot of what was typed was hyperbolic and comical for a smile but instead I see a lot of people getting on the defensive (what, do you have a guilty conscience?) Anyway, if that was your simplistic take upon reading this, don’t expect a reply from me. I’m not writing a sixty page play-by-play just because a lot of you can’t use a little common sense to fill in the gaps.
my sympathies. as a tank, sometimes i do this thinking my team know to peek me, but then i should have checked first. that being said, i really hate trying to peel for someone who keeps backing out of my DM range or goes around the wall, so i know the feeling
or when they go around the payload or a pillar , and as you go around it they move on the other side and ur just stuck in this loop tryin to get los on them xD
so they either die or you have to go in front of the thing putting yourself in enemy los hahaha
and then you are called trash healer because of their lack of awareness
Just had a game yesterday in comp on King’s Row, rolled enemy on attack -then on defend we only had to hold 1st point for 1 minute and we would have the match in the bag (I played Ana, well positioned behind telephone booth- ready to reposition right into streets if enemy got through to point).
Cue our tank and 2 dps deciding that the best course of action, was to collectively drop their brains and decide “spawncamp outside choke point is a fine idea”. Straight out of spawn, enemy Sigma sends shield past our frontline in the choke to block all healing, and our Genji dies after I kid you not, 5 seconds of round start, due to heavy damage and impossible for me to heal him behind shield.
I wanted to tear my hair out lmao, jesus christ some players are absolute whack. Can’t wait for my mmr to remember I used to be diamond on support in OW1, not low silver.
My personal favorite is when tanks walk through a Sigma/Winston shield, start panicking when their health drops, and then try running into a side room.
I tell people at the start of the game if they need healing, they need to come to me which will be near the tank (usually). I dont go chasing players around the map to heal them because that just gets me killed and then no one is getting heals. How many people are listening to chat is another story.
Well yeah, obviously, but there are players that run away from their healers more than they run from the enemy team. They expect us to chase them down to heal them as if there aren’t other people on the team.
Whenever I see a tank either A) try 1v5ing a whole team, B) walk through an enemy shield, C) corner themselves in a side room/corner, or D) all of the above…
I just wait for the inevitable Hog pick that I know’s coming.
well, in all fairness, it’s not really always the tanks fault, i mean, in the chaos, people tend to go where the fight is, and that fight may take them into places that make it hard to LOS. and…people forget…happens
i do get what you are saying though, as a healer, especially someone like ana who does healing at distance, it can be frustrating because there are so many objects that can block your heals, it gets tough to have to keep on top of them, while trying to maintain safety for yourself.
I always like when someone I am healing (it’s just us 2v1) is surviving the fight and about to win, and for some inexplicable reason they decide to run into a room to have a close quarters fight.
