Comp is completely unplayable right now. It is so close to the end of the season that no one cares. All you get are throwers and dps mains that refuse to switch no matter what.
I played 5 games tonight and each one was filled with nothing but toxicity and just terrible teammates. Dont get me wrong a few on the team tried, but every game had at least 2 people that either rage quit, admitted to throwing, or just would not do anything to help the team.
Tried to flex pick around them all night but it is just impossible. I played every season since the start and I have never seen comp this bad before.
Blizzard needs to step in and starting banning people that get reported now because it is out of control. As it is I will not be playing any comp for my entire Xmas break now because there is such a large majority of toxic teammates right now.

I just had 4 gold medals as a winston and gold damage at 10000 after a 14 minute game. My 2 dps couldnt out dps 10000 damage after all that time and I WAS MAKING SPACE. They were just flat out garbage. I cant do this anymore I just cant.
This game is just a troll and smurf fest. Do yourself a favor and find another game. Hell play farmville if its still a thing. Or go watch paint dry. Both are better options than the crap fest this game has become.

I played 2 games this afternoon where I was Hog and ended up with silver heals and silver damage both games. Neither damage nor heals were even that impressive for a Hog, but the rest of the team just didn’t show up to play.

People just dont care and or are flat out throwing. I also had a moira who would go solo onto the point and try to flank and get picked 3 times in 1 round of a koth game.
The PSA is sound just avoid comp till next season. You are just throwing away SR more than likely. Sure you wiull get wins from opposing players who do it but regardless win or lose the games are going to be awful

Perfect storm of event + new’ish hero + new balance patch + near end of season + holiday time. Even the GM/Top 500 game I see on twitch right now are just strange. Nearly ever game is a tilt like blowout

Smurfing is always the biggest issue. Players will suck and not work together at any point but the “silver” widow that gets 70+ kills a match is really what makes this game awful

. I will be playing til the very last day of this season and, hopefully, I can get as many toxic players penalized before it is over .

I’ve had 3 super close matches today out of 8 so… not really feeling this. And by super close I mean down to the wire, 2 minutes of overtime type of games.
Ashe has been the biggest thorn in my side for the season. I get an Ashe player on almost every team who refuses to switch and 90% of the time they’re a completely sub-par DPS player, but they just want to be Ashe because reasons.
Like, she is not great against a lot of comps. She is also high skill ceiling and ultra vulnerable in close range. I see it often where we get the double sniper DPS picks and they won’t swap even when the enemy is running Bastion/Orisa cheese and we need Junkrat and Mei or something to counter it, but they just sit on the snipers and shoot at shields and don’t kill anything.

It’s always gotten bad near the end of the season (since S3).
However, this and during the Summer are the worst times for comp, for sure.
You have all the younger kids getting out during their school’s Winter Break, and you have people drinking for the holidays and whatnot. That’s all combined with people just not caring at the end of the season.
It kind of sucks this is an issue, tbh.
People just complain about one-tricks, but those who are just seriously not trying get overlooked.

Your solace is misplaced… no one gets banned anymore. If people were actually getting banned for throwing you wouldnt see road to bronze groups constantly at prime time in LFG. It’s not rare to see 3 of those open throwing groups during those times.
Face it blizzard aint doing a thing.

The issue is more about the ratio of good or at least decent players to bad swings towards bad during all the “don’t play” times that seems to be in the game right now. Then it gets really bad when a few of those no times all line up with each other.
Even meh no one cares quick play is just infested with totally clueless horrible players that I highly suspect don’t play/like Overwatch that much anymore but will still show up being hey holiday time and why not get a new skin.

I dunno, I always find the best time to play is the last week of the season.
Mostly because all the toxic people that like to bully their teammates decide to sit it out because all the non-meta folks come out in droves.
I think the end of the season is the best time to play because not only is it fresh and a fun game experience, but toxicity is down.
However, when all the people that are on break or not in school… I avoid comp like the plague. That is when you get bad games with leavers and people poorly ranked.
I still think the best time to play is between 8-11pm Sun-Th… as that is when the kids aren’t in comp goofing off. The drunk people are not super drunk yet, and everyone has had a chance to get their practice/warm ups in.
Any other time, for a 8-5er, is a crap shoot. You’ll run into emotionally unstable people that will just ruin the experience and the game with their mouth and attitude.
