PS5 menu scrolling issue

Hi folks,
there are several reports regarding the menu scrolling issue from years ago(ps4) without a fix! Additionally on the PS5 I’m sometimes not able to select something with the X button. Then I have to do some random navigation actions to get it working again …
In summary the experience is really annoying! And sometimes it’s that annoying that I quit the game 5 minutes after the launch.

During the game there are no issues
and due to the fact that it’s only happening on Overwatch it doesn’t make sense for me to return a new PS5 controller.
If you are not able to fix the issue with the control sticks in the menu, the least that should happen from your side is that you add an option to entirely disable the sticks for the navigation in the menu and instead do it via only the arrow keys!
Thanks,
samlt

why isn’t this more known

I’m also experiencing this issue. While at the main menu with my Dualsense controller connected, the menu goes into an infinite scroll.
If I hold the left thumb stick to the left or right the infinite scroll stops until I release the stick.
If I turn off the controller the infinite scroll stops.
I connect a DS4 controller to my PS5 and the menu does not have the infinite scrolling problem.
The scrolling issue is present in game as well both in the settings menu and when trying to select an operator (it jumps around unpredictably).
Here is a video capture showing the issue, switching to a dualshock 4 and back to the dualsense. Overwatch PS5 Menu Bug - YouTube
This issue does not occur in any other games.

Based on my experience, infinite scroll is caused by stick drift. Most games have “dead zones,” which prevent stick drift from affecting gameplay/menus. To my knowledge, Overwatch doesn’t, so any slight stick drift will cause infinite scrolling. My DS4 sometimes would have this issue, but it would stop if I lightly rested my finger on the stick, which proved stick drift was the issue in my case. You can use https://gamepad-tester.com/ to see if either stick has drift. If the number changes when you’re not touching it or right after letting go of the stick, it has drift. My drift was intermittent, so it wouldn’t always show on the test.

So, it appears you are correct.
Both of my controllers suffer from stick drift…however the one I attempted to use with this game has stick drift that’s so small that it barely registers on testing apps and is not noticeable in other games.
I picked up a brand new Dualsense controller today and tried again and the infinite scrolling issue is not present.

I’m of the opinion that dead zone should be added for the menu because, this controller otherwise works fine in game (stick drift is incredible minor) and the stick drift isn’t noticeable but because of the issues it causes with the menu, I cannot use it.

Still waiting for a deadzone option. Can’t believe it doesn’t have one.
