PS5 lag and rubber banding

Over the last couple weeks I’ve had horrible issues with lag.

I’ve dressed the issues with my internet and made alterations to my connections but nothing has resolved, even a hard Ethernet connection.

Has anyone had any relief or is this an ongoing issue?

I’ve posted multiple times about this since OW2 launch. It’s clear what we have to do. I’m done. I’m getting an Xbox.

Yup, has been going on for a while now (for me, a good 4-5 months, for others, longer). I just don’t play as often anymore once the rubber-banding starts, the audio disappears, etc. Pity, as I’ve been playing this game since launch…

I have had issue after issue with PS5 and Xbox One lagging and rubber banding. I don’t know what to do. I’ve hard reset my router, system reset, updated. Sadly nothing works. The game feels like I’m trying to play a PS5 game on a PS2 network.

Same here, still… I’ve been through 3 different PS5’s, even went to my friends place to test it, issues everywhere. PS5 version is doomed to be a stutterfest / framedrop junk forever, patch after patch. I think the engine is fudged.

What sucks is that it wasn’t always like this. Outside of that resolution bug in season 2 it was flawless for the first 7 seasons. Then the stutters and fps drops started and get worse each patch.

I’ve made so many posts about it and no one’s looking at blizzard.

Balanced mode has been ducked since season 8. It really feels like they don’t play the game on console period.

EDIT: I also play the game on series X sometimes. Balanced mode is messed up there too and there are also fps drops.

Man, I feel the exact same way! It all started around season 2 / the one punch man event. May I ask what region you’re playing in?

NA. I’m weird and play OW on PS5, series x, and PC. If they added gyro support for ps5 and fixed the bugs I’d play primarily there since I don’t want to deal with mouse and keyboard hitscan every game.

I was thinking to get an xbox series s just for overwatch (and other exclusive title that I wanna play) my friend is a t500 on xbox who has no issues, other than the widowmaker infrasights 30fps bug, the game runs smoothly there. It’s weird. I thought and some people in these forums said they have no issues on PS5 and that it might be a regional problem. really weird. my question is are these people just not paying attention to these issues or are there just certain people affected by them. 1 and a half years of trying to find out a solution on the internet and sending blizzard and sony tickets, changing ISP, router, PS5’s, nothing. just nothing. It’s sad.

Most people especially on console are clueless when it comes to framerate/stuttering and can’t see it. My best friend can’t tell the difference between 30/60fps and only sees a difference at 120.

Congrats! you have the unfortunate experience of being sensitive to framerate/stutters! It’s a curse

Anyways, I’ve never played OW2 on the series S so can’t comment but can’t imagine it’s much different than X. The fps drops were mainly on the hero select screen. Get a tv or monitor with VRR

Well, I have a VRR compatible monitor, but PS5’s only support hdmi 2.1 for VRR via freesync, and I’m not gonna spend another 400+$ for a new monitor just to get 4K@120fps. I don’t care about high resolution. I want smooth gameplay, no framedrops, no no regs, no audio stutters, etc.

An Xbox, on the other hand, would support VRR right away, so I’ll get one of those and see if it can work with my current monitor. It’s going to be the last straw for me for sure though. IMO games should run at least consistently even on 1080p@120hz without VRR. Most of the games do. Except, Overwatch 2. there was a time before the OPM event, where I had crisp, smooth gameplay. Since then, it just went downhill, no matter what I’ve tried to solve it. Kinda makes sense since they’ve continiously added new effects and ultimates that make the game stutter when layered on top of eachother, but it was already a mess, considering the season 2 resolution bug.

The amount of clunkiness is too much, even for not owning the highest tier monitor. I’m running a Benq Mobiuz gaming monitor, 120hz on 1080p. Overwatch on PS5 is apparently a game for whales, if you don’t own a 500$ Panel or TV, your screwed. I guess all the HDMi 2.0 cough PS5 freetoplay players just serve as cannonfodder for the whales to spend money in the skin shop. These framedrops and stutters are very distracting and make me die a lot where I shouldn’t, it goes hand in hand with the season 9 hitbox changes, which made things even worse. Like getting killed through walls or floors or absolutely no regging when shooting someone even though there’s a hit sound. If Xbox + VRR doesn’t fix it for me I’m gonna have to move on. I miss OW1, it was 60 fps on my PS5 Pro, but it was consistent, smooth 60 fps and everyone was on the same level in terms of hardware. these times are over. no wonder people buy xims and cheat.

So yeah, I wanted to get an xbox series S anyways, to play some other exclusive games, but I will try out and see how OW2 does with 1080p VRR on my current monitor.

There was a period between OW2 beta and Season 3 on PS5 where everything was really fluid in framerate mode so I hope to be able to replicate this on my soon new Xbox. I just want to be able to play hitscan on a higher level again as well as being able to play tanks that require a lot of precision, timing and mechanical skill, like for example, reinhardt. right now as soon as they pop a lot of ults I feel like I’m walking through mud a lot of the times and timing/cancelling abilities feels really sluggish. I hope to see a difference and I’ll report it here as well as my youtube channel.
