The overwatch tutorial is severely lacking. It doesn’t teach you anything actually necessary to win like communicating, grouping up, or team composition. What does it teach? How to click a button. It should not be the job of competitive players to teach these things to level 25 noobs. Either add a proper tutorial, or raise the minimum level.
They said they want to keep the tutorial simple so that it doesn’t overwhelm players.
And here we are… with the negative impact that decision is having on the community.
If you need more than 25 levels to learn to group up, communicate or a team comp, a tutorial isn’t going to cut it…
Or to understand all 25 heroes and their abilities and counters, right? …
Or to understand all the maps, and the heroes they compliment. Does the rating system account for your hero choice on a particular map, and using those heroes abilities on the areas of that map, like wall climbing particular walls, or flying in certain areas?
Nope.
It doesn’t even need to be that complicated. They could just add a section to the tutorial where they’re like “an important part of overwatch is team comp. So, if you already have 2 dps and 2 tanks, what should you pick?”
Perhaps.
But this won’t fix the problem of those players suddenly deciding to pick whatever they want in an actual competitive match. In a game like Overwatch, where 1 person can ruin it for everyone one, ruins it for everyone.
Well obviously, but we aren’t talking about those people, we’re talking about the level 25s playing their first competitive season who honestly don’t know any better. It shouldn’t be our job to babysit them while they try and learn.
EDIT: @Kryps
I never knew how to click a button until I did the Overwatch tutorial! Thanks Blizzard!
