I just realized that the concept of projectiles is holding OW back in general. Truth is OW is mostly a shooter. Mostly dominated by hitscan. And over the years OW went more and more into that direction.
Projectiles do have a certain appeal and I like the concept and want it to stay. But I do think it needs an update. There needs to be a fixed formula, that rewards aim by increasing travel speed and moves away from a simple spam approach OR deal way more burst damage than hitscan. However I prefer the travel speed approach.
Projectiles I include are for example
- Genji shuriken
- Mercy gun
- Dva gun
- Lucio gun
- Kiriko shuriken
- Zen balls
- And similar stuff
I do not include explosives here like junk, phara and so on. Also Hanzo is something different, because he is a long ranger. I am talking about normal mid range projectiles for now.
I think all those projectiles should be consistent on mid range, which is about 15m. That means that the TRAVEL SPEED needs to be so fast, that aim is rewarded.
Should a character become OP through such a buff, then attack speed or ammo should be nerfed.
I think we can all agree on one thing in shooters: aim should be rewarded and not be restricted.
