Projectile aiming

Im trying to get better at some projectile aim heroes (echo, mei, zen).

How do you aim and shoot?

  1. Keep holding the shoot button and then try to aim?
  2. Aim first, shoot only when you think you gonna hit (like more percise shooting, less spam)

Thanks!

Do 1. and do ‘flickshot’

Depends on the Situation. For Mei, I like #1, because of the wind-up time, plus you can always melee cancel if you have to. Same applies to Symmetra and to Zen Volley

Unless you know the enemy isn’t moving for a bit (i.e., they’re Gravved or in a Blizzard, or in a Trap) or you’re shooting a shield you shouldn’t auto-fire in most situations. Better to have a couple of good direct hits that get a kill, rather than taking 10 shots to kill something. Anytime you’re reloading is 1.5secs+ of time you could be shooting at something. If someone is on low health, and you can’t finish them because you’re reloading due to spamming missed shots, that’s on you.

Is it applied to both echo and zen? Echo has a higher shooting speed, so it feels good spamming with her (even tho i miss alot). I did try the 2nd option with zen and i had much better results, never tried with echo yet.

I played a fair bit of Echo, and it depends on what you’re shooting for. If it’s for Ult charge, or to kill a shield, spam that primary all the day long. If it’s for Stickies or to set up for a Beam kill (or in a 1v1) go slow and steady.
It’s hard to give a comprehensive “in this situation, do this” because theres so much going on in Overwatch, but I hope this helps

Since Mei has the fastest projectile speed in the game (Except for storm arrow) you need to focus on learning when the shot actually goes of. A good way to learn this is by sound as you can hear the shot being charged.

For me personally I hold down m2 if I need to shield spam or if I am fighting a tank. With smaller heroes like Tracer I click m2 once and then try to flick to where the tracer is going to be. Conserving ammo is really important in those scenarios since reloading can get you killed without any way of fighting back.

I’m only speaking for Pharah, but I do 2 more. I always individually click each rocket

The only time I’m holding down M1 is to spam into a shield or choke

  1. Try to predict where the enemy will be and anticipate thart on your shots. Spam its just better against bigger targets or close range

Honestly with echo. Think of junkrat spam. Now do that into their team. It’s really the only way i’ve found to be able to aim her awkward projectile speed. And also just not having that much distance anyway because of the spread. But up close? Just either flick, or you can track. Up close it doesn’t really matter although I tend to flick a bit more as it’s not a constant sustain damage so, need for tracking is a lot less.
