Progression: Nice Idea. Sucks as a long time player

I just genuinely love how I can now unlock icons I already unlocked in Overwatch 1 and then unlocked AGAIN in Overwatch 2 when they added the ‘win x games with that hero’ thing, and now can unlock AGAIN through the progression.

The progression which is at NOTHING for all my characters. 500 hours in Support, yet everything is blank and empty at Level 1 for all heroes.

Feels bad, man. Feels real damn bad.

The name cards are nice, I guess.

basically anything you achieve now will be erased later too why bother.

yeah not gonna lie, I genuinely find this blank slate utterly demotivating.

I guess this is the problem when the multi billion dollar company isn’t able to actually make a full game and releases new features in bits and pieces over years. They let you play OVW2 for a year and can’t even figure out how to make that count for their nice new progression track. The stats are all there, too. The game has already tracked that in the statistics.

Maybe they’ll sell us the ability to make those numbers count for 30 bucks in another year. Bundle will include a spray and souvenir.

Definitely frustrating when I have Illari as a higher level than Mercy right now despite the fact that I have literally 1000 hours on Mercy on the account

Like…they somehow can track our hours played and our average stats for all these heroes across the last 6 years and still display it but can’t use that to fuel our progression?

EXACTLY t hat. It feels SO damn bad. And the statistics are all there! There is 0 reason why it doesn’t count.

Exactly like if my profile knows my average damage boosted and total damage boosted… and can display it…why does my Hero Progression damage boosted have to start 0

I’m not a math major but that doesn’t seem that difficult to code an equation for who knows

Blizzard is really out there putting out the sort of quality that even an indie studio with only one employee would be embarrassed about tbh

The worst thing is… they have the stats already tracked anyway… (most of them anyway).
Like you can see how much playtime, how many won games, how much damage, healing and blocking you have done.
If they want to add some new categories to character stats for the “progression” that’s cool, but at least recognize all the time we have put into characters in 7 years of playing…

Yeah! It would really suck if everything unlocked right away, of course, but honestly at least things like played time for heroes and modes as well as basic things like healing / damage / mitigation should carry over - and then you can still work on unlocking specific things like ‘sleep x enemies’ etc to level up more.

But again - foolish of me to assume Blizzard cares about good product and about their long term players.

my biggest issue is that there are no rewards

What… !!! They did that ?

I thought those were new rewards / collectibles to get…

Overwatch community… there is no progression other than the battlepass. No reason to play.

Also overwatch community… progression sucks.

Crazy me playing a game cause i enjoy it, realizing hero progression isnt for me its for new players, just a system similar to what every single other game has now.

This bothers me so much. 360 hours on Pharah, 1600 hours played since OW1 … starting from 0. None of it matters. THEY HAVE MY STATS. They know my lifetime stats for the heroes. Why isn’t it retroactive?

the name cards are. the icons… I think there’s SOME new icons, like one per hero? maybe? but uh. Yeah. Most of them are old. Some of them are from friggin’ Overwatch 1.

I feel like they should at least give some credit to SOME of the progressions, particularly at least give us the OW2 time served. But yea as an OW1 player, this makes me think Blizz likes smurfs better than us.

It would have been better received at the launch of Overwatch Dos. It is just too little, too late.

But how did we lose the ones we got from OW1 ? They erased them ?

darling, they ahve those stats in your statistics. There is literally 0 reason for them not to be integrated into progression, other than Blizzard acts like they’re an indie studio without resources who cannot program worth a damn.

it’s a joke. Tell me what the reason is this wasn’t in the ““NEW GAME”” at launch? Tell me what a reasonable excuse is for why my 500 hours at support are at 0 in the progression, when the statistics include them?

Yeah all that years of accumulating amounted to nothing. It feels like they are focusing more of attracting new players than caring for those who played from beginning.

So did we lose our OW1 icons, yes or no… ? I don’t get what this thread is all about…
