Progression card shows the matchmaking does not work

I get low-experience people with just a couple of levels in my team, absolutely dragging everything down. Quickplay is utterly disgusting. Blizzard outright lies that it puts a balanced team together, when utter noobs are put with veterans.

It’s working as intended, at least.

You mean quickly right?

Nothing about matchmaking suggests it is trying to put veterans with veterans and noobs with noobs. It is putting people together who win against roughly the same caliber of opponents at roughly the same rates.

If it were trying to place noobs with noobs and veterans with veterans, matches would be less balanced and smurfing would be way easier.

when this game wants you to lose, it wants you to lose. you can see patterns sometimes. 2 days ago i had a 9 game winning streak followed by a 3 one. just lost 6 in a row and for some reason my teammate tanks were getting rolled in every one

I don’t see a pattern in anything

Maybe I’m just the player they toss on your games?

maybe im flipping tails every flip… sucks when it happens heh

I’m not saying there isn’t a pattern, just… between playing solo, playing duo, and playing full stack(5-6) at times, it feels the wins and losses I get are more in my control

just a bit ago i went against a full stack 2 times. they had a genji that was just untouchable. really felt bad heh. well i mean i am sure they were on discord or had full communication. really coordinated team in quickplay

after that i waited like 10 minutes to queue again lol

Woah… I mean yeah, as I mentioned, I do play in full groups but like

It depends on the other team, if we can take it easy and they don’t seem to be communicating

Then we just chat and make jokes… cuz you know

That’s fair?

My worst experiences have been when duoing or stacking. What I have discovered is that if you want more balanced matches you should let the matchmaker pick all the players in the match for you rather than forcing some of them yourself.

Which doesn’t mean that it isn’t fun to play with friends. But if you experience consistently weird matches while playing with friends, it’s worth considering that maybe you and your friends aren’t the best fit for good matches.

My solo queue experience is like yours, though. As long as no one in the match gives up, matches generally feel pretty good and my individual play has a lot of impact on the match outcome. Which is a remarkable thing to say in a game as complicated as Overwatch.

Since when does play time have anything to do with how good I am?

I have 4K hours therefore I must belong in GM lobbies?

(Not to mention alt accounts and grouping)

You qued quick play and expected comp matchmaking? Like what?

You get matched within 2 ranks of your own. A diamond will get golds in their games, and every new account starts in gold.

So unless you’re master or gm, there will always be a chance for first time players in your lobbies.

If you want to play within one rank of yourself, play comp.

And that should be closer. Too wide. But quality of the match means nothing anymore for the devs.

On the other hand, I hate that the cards show I’m level 90 and absolutely still trash :joy:

Tis what happens when you play for fun I suppose.

I wouldn’t go that far.

I’ve had Diamonds in my GM lobbies before.

It’s that wide to be fast. And to differentiate from comp, which has tighter matchmaking.

If you don’t want to play matches with wide matchmaking, no one’s forcing you to play qp.

Diamond is within 2 ranks from gm.
Diamond, masters, gm.
A diamond can have anything from gm’s to first day players in their qp lobbies.
This is how the qp matchmaking has been explained to work a good while ago.

Comp is the only mode with one rank difference in mm. Everything else is wider matchmaking.
