Profanity doesn't equal Harassment

Its important to know the difference, which I know is a hard task for Blizzard studios with their cough recent history

Saying “oh f, nice shot hanzo” shouldn’t be a bannable offence LMAO. The Code of Conduct is vague when it comes to what is defined as harassment or not

And the implementation of a profanity filter implies people can be a bit looser with their language. You have to go out of your way to turn the thing off to be able to see profanity. If you turn it off, thats literally on you lmao

Either make curse words instant bans like they do in kids game or not at all because you can’t have both

Just got my first ever in-game warning for text chat. I have no idea what it was for except the one time I swore last night because I got angry at my third leaver in a row during comp.

I think I’m going to stop using text chat and voice chat outside of “gg” or “gl hf” because I don’t want my account actioned for something stupid.

Flashback to the time I learned how babies are made and typed what it is called in the club penguin chat to see what would happen and immediately got banned

Imagine if ow did that with slurs

Does it bother you that much to just say “hanzo nice shot”?

I mean that was a response I guess.

I swear like a sailor when I get riled up - for good or bad- so I guess I shouldn’t buy microphones anymore lol. And train myself out of the usual acronyms (grapevine apparently said those with profanity still count lol).

But can we get an F for the Australians? Poor guys swear super casually from what I hear, and the c-word gets dropped a lot more often than the US. Blizzard’s gonna nuke them from orbit smh.

I’ll start reporting for GG and especially report for glhf and I’ll also report anyone not in VC or Text chat in comp. Everything is reportable… if you want it to be.

I wonder if these people that police language ever actually get out in the real world. I’m from New Zealand , pretty common for a swear word or 2 to be in most sentences. And the C word can be used a term of endearment here.

True. I’m a blue-collar worker and I’m pretty sure that the F-bomb is the most used word in the English language.

It’s my fav word, it suits a whole range of applications.

You know damn well that’s not what the conversation is about. Please don’t be disingenuous with your comments on the matter.

It doesn’t bother anyone that swearing isn’t allowed in some communities. It bothers almost everyone that Blizzard’s attitude regarding swearing is unjustified (swearing is not abuse), unclear (if there’s an automatic profanity filter which you can choose to turn off, then the obvious assumption is that you’re allowed to swear), and bizarre (we’re allowed to shoot people in the head but SWEARING is too much? It’s a competitive team game but we’re not allowed to engage in typical competitive socialisation?).

It doesn’t but ppl report it anyway.
Even in the forum it is guaranteed to see a post flagged just for using a swear word even if there isn’t anything offensive.

From how it’s looking so far, I feel like the profanity thing is all of us just getting trolled by the same guy at Blizzard.

Its gotta be if some dude who smells like lockers says swears arent allowed even when abbreviated despite Cree having a BAMF belt since 2016

Yeah he does. You’re not wrong.
