Currently, AI is a limited hero selection, with 3 difficulties which only difference is their aim. I think that the AI in the game needs to be improved with 3 things.
More heroes for AI
Currently, the AI (which hardly acts like an AI) can only choose a limited amount of heroes. Heros like Rein, Mercy, D.VA & more cannot be chosen (by the AI itself or by the user) The AI should have all the available heroes that are in the live game (whether quickplay or comp is up to you (the devs)).
The difficulty of the AI
The intelligence of the AI is lacking for sure. They run towards objectives blindly and if a hero is in their FOV they fire. Though they can recognize where heroes are if they see them fire past them. The AI has no positioning, no game sense. As you up the difficulty of the AI it is able to aim better. AI stands blindly on the point and follows people when they are running away. I will give credit that the AI in this game is very very hard to make. But the intelligence must increase.
Why OW will be better with AI
Players starting out will have a better experience in custom games whether they are there to train or play fun game modes, or if they want to train in Play vs AI game mode in the training section. AI can be a polished edition of the game, not something people ignore and forget. If AI was to be improved and more then just a bot but a opponite or teammate in custom games OW will be much better with it. Right now everything is polished exept AI.

AI is a big thing for me when I play Overwatch.
I struggle with mental illness, specifically social anxiety, and to have AI to always go back to when I’m not feeling up to a match against people, is very comforting and is what makes the game always draw me back.
Personally, I feel as though not having all or most of the current heroes available in AI, makes it so that new players or people that play AI in general, are not exposed to everything OW has to offer, and when they go into a match with people, they then become confused because they don’t normally play against those heroes and as a result; can under preform and become angry, depressed, etc.
AI is a huge thing for me and many others. It helps new players also get used to the game mechanics, but they can’t really get used to the heroes when they’ve only played against 40-50 % of the heroes in Overwatch.

While I love playing against AI, it’s not their main focus. Still, they’re slowly making improvements. I noticed most recently that the bots are able to track paths over ledges and the like whereas before if you knocked them up onto a roof without stairs attached they were stuck there for the whole match. The main improvements I want to see are adding bots to elimination custom matches; when you play against them in skirmish, they hunt you down and shoot you so that should be relatively easy to implement compared to something requiring more complex programming like Capture the Flag. Also, bring in heroes for which we’ve already seen AI. We’ve seen Orisa in Uprising, working Mercy and partially working Junkrat in Junkenstein’s Revenge, and the sniper in Retribution was essentially a Widowmaker AI; bring them to the mode proper.
