Problem/Bug with Mercy Damage Boost

For some reason when I boost damage with Mercy I can’t stay locked on to my target - the game acts like I’m pressing and releasing the button quickly, sometimes locking for 1-2 seconds but most of the time it’ll lock/drop/lock/drop every half second or so (very quickly). I’ve tried binding it to my mouse, controller or keyboard and I have the same problem with them all so I’m pretty sure it’s not a problem with my controls.

Anyone else seeing this? Am I doing something wrong? I checked with a friend and this does not happen to him.

Thanks!

Odd, I haven’t seen that before myself so not sure what to see. But here’s a bump to see if anyone else has any ideas?

I would say clip it and post to the bug report forums. And if possible put the clip here to see if there’s an issue somebody here can spot.

I played tons of mercy 50+ hrs this season and I didn’t have this issue maybe I had it and I didn’t notice? Can you share a game you played? and what is your settings

I have been having a similar issue. If my beam target goes behind someone or leaves my pov then the beam connects to the person in front/in my view.

It never did this in ow1 and has been messing me up.

Oh so it’s loosing its lock-on? Again clip it if possible and report to the bug report forum and share here.

I’m not surprised that the chances of nearly the entire roster may be bugged with how sloppily the transition has been.

Yeah I was thinking it was an intentional change tbh cause they’ve made a lot of screwy changes. I’ll try to clip it if I remember to.

I don’t remember seeing any patch notes about it-then again heroes get shadow nerfed and shadow buffed all the time.

Ive never even heard of this issue, maybe you can send in a support ticket?

Thanks for all the input guys - it looks like I’ve figured out why, it is my (odd) control scheme, which I should explain. I actually play joystick and mouse - I do this for a few reason, mainly I have pretty bad carpal tunnel in my left hand and I feel like I get much more precise movement this way. I actually play all FPS games this way (mouse in my right hand to be clear) and haven’t, until now, had an issue. I use x360ce to create a virtual Xbox 360 controller than I then bind into Overwatch.

One of the odd issues that happens in Overwatch is that the on-screen control overlay, that shows you what key/button to press is constantly changing from controls to keyboard as it gets confused, thinking that my mouse means I must be using a keyboard/mouse but my joystick (Xbox controller) makes it think I’m on controller. Visually I can see it constantly changing back and forth.

So it seems that for some reason that doesn’t affect my heal beam but it does affect my damage boost. I tested this by playing only keyboard/mouse and all works fine.

So while it’s frustrating at least I know why and it’s due to my odd setup, bummer that Overwatch does this when I’ve played dozens of other FPS that don’t - just so you can see here is the video I made before I realized the issue

What’s odd is no matter where I bind the control it does this, so while it’s a bummer it’s not game ruining. I do appreciate all the replies - if anyone does have an idea on how to fix/resolve this I’m all ears.
