Before I say anything else the computer is 10 years old, Everything is on low, I run overwatch on 30 fps But for some reason my computer always crashes mid games! My level endorsement went from 5 to 3 and I was banned from this comp season I don’t really mind it but it’s really frustrating Me and my friends can’t have fun anymore playing the game because I keep crashing, But it wasn’t always like this, this is became more recent issue And I’m not sure if it’s the game itself or the computer itself I make sure there is no extra programs while I play overwatch, it’s usually only overwatch and a browser Open to discord and that’s it It’s no longer fun And I don’t know what to do Any advice would be really appreciated at this point
If the hardware is 10yrs old, you might be running into heating issues or simply failure issues. What specs are we talking about?
I am on relatively newer hardware and I’m still having this issue as well as a ton of other people. I think there’s a good chance it’s not a problem with your setup, or at least it’s not just a problem with your setup. It’s really frustrating being ignored by the Blizzard team.
It would be helpful to see the actual specs. Many of the players experiencing this issue recently have hardware below minimum specs, insufficient space on their drive for it to work properly, or overheating.
Many started having it only after season 11 update, with playing a lot on s10 before with no issues, raises some suspicions that it is related to update…
Every update will continue pushing the minimum requirements to the absolute limit, which is why I mentioned it. Some people will play below minimum specs and a patch later on can discontinue that access.
It turned out it was overheating…the CPU was overheating so much that the fan couldn’t keep up So now I just blast the CPU with the fan Thanks for the information!
No problem. If you reapply your thermal paste you may be able to save some electricity both from the CPU and the external house fans.
Why is this the case? The game isn’t changing that dramatically if anything the optimization is just getting worse. Rhetorical question: Why do we need to actively disable compatibility with older machines?!?! (spoiler: we don’t) (dedicating dev time to that no less)
Makes sense. Although I had same issue with game closing on some 2010s mmorpg which doesn’t use a lot of resources due to it’s age and general weak load on the system as the game was poor in details even on ultra settings, but it would close for some reason, just like Overwatch after S11 update. At the same time I can play fortnite and etc with no problems, and could play Overwatch before the patch too, both games have much bigger requirements than that one and wouldn’t close.
So I suspect something like in that mmorpg been added to Overwatch that simply crashes it.
