Problem with middle east / KSA flag

I’ll be quick.

I wear israeli flags ( from Overwatch olympics ), and basically,

1 game on 5 is throwed by one of my mate because he wear KSA flag and slur antisemitic and homophobic things in the chat.

Everytime I see KSA flags or arabic language in chat, I got insulted, and like, not litely.

I never insult anyone because of their flags or what their believe in real life, I don’t care, I’m here to play competitive , overwatch is not the place for political debate.

Open question to blizzard : For how many time will you allow people to be antisemitic as hell ( honestly, I never saw that, and I’m used to read 4chan ) and hatefull speach being here ?

For those who wanna expertience this : just put israeli flag on your account and you’ll live an incredible experience.

Also, I have a solution :

1st : It may be counter intuitive but stop banning people for saying things in chat => this way, at least we can answer without risk of being banned.

2nd : Don’t allow middle east IP to connect to EU server. => Less conflict, also less latency

3rd : Put that phone number obligatory linked to an account for playing competitive. => It will reduce F2P account who are here for playing competitive without being serious, and this way, are much more agressive

4th : Punish much much more harder people who throw games intentionnaly (in competitive ). => I don’t care people who insult me if I can mute them or answer them, but if they throw my game, I can’t do anything.

That’s all, have a good day guys

KSA is the new “Throw for Dafran” so basically the symbol of “Im throwing and im proud of it”. It is a real problem now not only in this game but every other online game i’ve played that there are more and more people spamming “Free (country)” and then leave.

It will surprise you how many world problems can be solved that way. Japan and SK should have their separate servers too for that same reason. Same goes for Pakistan and India, Israel and the Arab world, and so on. In 2070, maybe characters of different backgrounds and sexualities can get along just fine, but in 2023, diversity is never a strength and we can all benefit from less toxicity in our games that stems from historical, racial, or religious conflicts.

You’re upset with some flags, because you wear yours…

Maybe don’t have yours?

I know you want to show support and are proud and so on… But it’s clearly causing you more hassle than it’s worth in what is just a video game.

OW forums are no place for political discourse about current events

everyone can have an opinion, however its best if we all keep them to ourselves, or save them for the appropriate places for discussion

The most unhinged toxic players I have ever seen in this game wear KSA flags. Nothing even came close to that. It’s actually crazy how the likelihood of a player having that flag and being ultra toxic is really high. Quite an interesting phenomena.

To OP: I have witnessed the exact same thing on two occasions, where one player in one team had an israeli flag, and a member of that team saying they’ll throw because of that (and yes, in both occasions it was someone with a KSA badge). This stuff is just unacceptable and definitely has no place in a competitive game.

Blizzard needs to hire actual humans to review reports and actually do some moderation in the game. I don’t think automated systems will ever fix that. Especially in cases such as reports for intentionally throwing.

Yes. I have seen this happen too though not directly. What I dont understand and is a bit unrelated is why there are so many arabic players in european servers. I live in Spain and every other game is full of arabic players typing and talking in arabic. I seriously have no problem with them, but I would like to play with people with whom I can comunicate. Is the player base that dead or does Blizzard not realize that Spain is in europe and not the Middle East?

I don’t think op in particular is holding Palestine hostage, mate.

Bro literally said he doesn’t care about flags in his post. What he described is happening in Asia all the time. Some Korean or Chinese player will see a Japanese nickname or flag and throw the game for no reason, or vice versa. Like, what do you suggest? Everyone name themselves “John Doe” so nobody is offended?

Or should Blizzard just not put you in a game where you have 100+ ping and along with players that literally desire your real-life demise? (Yes, it’s all in order to decrease the queue times that they themselves made so terrible due to their hidden mmr system, I get it.)

I am not justifying their behaviour, a video game should be safe space from political issues.

But…

The amount of people that dont know arabs are Semitic aswell is astounding. So calling arabs anti-semites makes 0 sense.

they could solve this by putting everyone on the gay flag

Tbh, they should add the Palestine flag in the game too. Even a tournament with team Israel and team Palestinian😂.

The real tragedy of it all. Whether it’s Indians vs Pakistanians or Jews vs Arabs etc… it’s people who share a lot of dna just slaughtering each other. God Allah or Yahweh can’t be pleased.

What’s the nicest way to say this…

Atm, most rational people that live outside of America don’t see Israel as the good guys right now.

So… Maybe, just bin the nationalism, remove the flag, and play and have fun.

No bait. They just aren’t wrong, anyone who has eyes can see that comparison, even if it is inappropriate here.
