Problem with Mei's Hairstyle? Why so much hate?

I bring this up because of all the ppl saying meis new hair is racist in comments.

This is not Cultural appropriation. The term is completely devoid of its original meaning. Cultural appropriation is if People from Florida started wearing and talking like people from Boston with Baseball caps and wearing sweaters around all the time. Culture, Many groups of races live among each other in specific areas all around the USA. What ppl are actually complaining about is Race appropriation. Which Is BS and they want to segregate one race from another.
Ppl like to say America is a melting pot yet flip out when anyone wears or does something black or Asian/ etc as in dress up or talk a certain way. That is segregating races to spread them apart. We all live among one another so we should share what we all have and understand Cultural appreciation not “appropriation”. You hang out with your friends and take on their traits, which is why sometimes parents say that kid is a bad influence or good influence when you were young.

If you have to complain about a hairstyle, not to mention in which Mongolians had braids/goths/celts you name it. You are the one with the problem and Over priviledged to complain about nothing. Rather than including others you want to separate and bring race into it, this literally furthers racial tensions. You might think you are helping minorities but you are actually causing the racial divide in the Country. For what? Over hair? Makes absolutely no sense. Take a hard look in the mirror. Stop feeding into todays victim mentality and start thinking for yourself. Saying cultural appropriation makes you the racist as you are segregating.

I have no problem sharing my asian culture with everyone, why do ppl that yell cultural appropriation want to make the world a harder place to live in? Please forgive my english if anything is said wrong I tried my best, just want ppl to get along.

like the only time I would ever call out the culture appropation stuff…is if someone is using a culture to like…market something, like a candy company going like all out japanese for like…some sour skittles or something

Yeah, I think I can confidently say not a single person complaining about cultural appropriation has helped me through it.

not to meantion that her hair style makes sense for the sport shes playing.

people are stupid sensitive. anyone can have whatever hair style they want, we shouldn’t literally exculde race’s from being able have a certain hair style. that in it self is kinda racist.

Bob Ross is a legend with that hair

To that point though… it’s a skin available to be paid for.

HOWEVER… I personally think calling a hairstyle cultural appropriation is nitpicky and silly.

Selling stereotypical native american/mexican/japanese costumes for cheap halloween gags? Probably bad.

Making your hair look how you want it to? … maybe not.

an absolute legend, though like me?..that would just look…silly, lets be honest

now here is a question…*if she was bald, would we be talking about this?

if she was bald it would make the skin look ugly af and we wouldn’t be talking about this, but we would definitely be talking about something

fair enough but hey, they can’t grab what isnt there, right?

yeah as long as they are not intentionally making fun of a race im good with it. Its like I have some friends that swear alot, almost like Commas. As long as they are not swearing at me directly im fine with it.

Oh, yes, people are buying the skin with imaginary currency because of the cornrows. Not at all because its an MMA skin. Their argument is devoid of any reasoning regardless of the angle you approach it from.

hey, to be fair, it was in reference to what I was sayin, so I think it was more of a light jab then an actual complaint

If she was bald and in a wheelchair like Professor X that would be cool. Not many disabled char in the game (well… that im aware of) . Im in a wheelchair and would love that : )

well that would be cool…just hard to pull off, since…well…they are in a wheelchair.
I can legit only think of one character in gaming that is in a wheelchair, and that is Bentley from Sly Coop, and thats only in the later games

the problem with having a character in a wheel chair is how THE FRICK would this guy jump.

… no?

But… that’s kinda avoiding the issue there.

Yeah, if someone finds a piece of your culture interesting and wants to celebrate it or use it respectfully then by all means. Have at.

I think there is validity in the fact it’s a marketed product with a possibly culturally sensitive aspect (like say Phara in thunderbird regalia, or Kali Sym). However I find the claim that a hairstyle in and of itself being cultural appropriation is pretty silly.
