Private Profile - Why?

I understand the basic concept of a private profile - to reduce toxicity around hero picks. But why is ALL PLAYER INFO still private? I can’t see the players experience now from portrait. I can’t see their SR or medal rank in match. Even if a profile is private, there should still be SOME high level information available. Really frustrating.

You litterally listed all the reason why Blizzard needed to make profile private.

Toxicity for hero picks, sr, portrait, level, sr , medal rank.

People created toxicity in this things and even more.

Why do you need this information, how would the match differ if you had this information?

  • I don’t know if you have any limits for choosing your new heroes, say thank to BP and new players way;
  • knowing SR immediately would remove the useless chat about “what sr do you have?” . But let’s admit that it is more useless to remove the “create a group” function where you could actually look for people with the same SR as you, right ?;
  • They promised to remove the toxicity derived from the portraits and levels. Oops, they are still there, if you go to your profile and that of others. what is the use? none, there is only BP leveling in an obviously problematic conversion of OW1 to OW2;

The problem is not having private profiles … but that they are deafult mode, without people deciding that they want them private. the result is just a lot of people who has no idea that they are hidden or does not know that they can be highlighted, creating (guess) useless chating about what rank you are, peaceful or aggressive.

Thanks, your type of comment is a perfect example of why private profile exist.

what excuses are you talking about? what sense does it have to have moved the “create a group” from OW2 for example? and with the hero limit how do I know if the player isn’t choosing kiriko on purpose because he can’t use it, because he doesn’t want to … or why can’t he not having unlocked it? And why can I still see the portraits of the profiles that was supposed to limit the toxicity of the experience by judging them?

literally nothing of the old inconveniences has changed and they have added new ones in this OW2.

I mean it’s pretty much that people are toxic. I join a game and immediately think I’m a noob because of the characters I play. It’s like just because I don’t play the characters you like doesn’t mean I’m bad at the game.

Again i readed this things for 3-4 years, always from toxic players.

There is nothing to discuss about private profile.

People with private profile usually is most toxic than others. Because they use as argument they are “best than you” and “you play bad/worse than that player”.

I’ve played an comp match, that they guy on enemy team literally did this.

In 2 rounds both teams captured, in 3rd round him started to be very toxic because one of their teammates just left from match. Then someone in my team asked to him “where your skill now without your heal bots?” (him was playing as mei)

Then him started send many toxic/offensive messages in match chat about this. Using him profile/hours played as argument but him profile was private.

Then we said “how can your argument be valid since your profile is private” him just left too from match :rofl:

I expect for EU data privacy rules they have to make profiles private by default with an opt-in option to make them public. If they have to do it in the EU I guess it is easier for them to make that the default everywhere. Unlike the US, the EU tries to protect user privacy rather than sell the information to the highest bidder!

I feel I have read this comment from you 100 times just in this thread. WE GET IT.

No people not get it.

After all is 3-4 years private profile is here.

And some people continue to write the same exact things.

And for what purpose do you need to see

all of this?

Hide the hate if you suck.

Diamond borders in Bronze got so much hate in OW lol. It was kinda funny.

I get that it can create toxicity but imo the OW community is the only community I’ve ever seen complain about it. In no other games have I seen the option to make your profile completely private.
