Priority Pass Useless

What’s the point of having a priority queue system when it doesn’t work? I shouldn’t still have to wait over 5 minutes to join a game.

Just as a quick reminder, that in the event you are unable to find a match within the estimated quoted, your priority pass is refunded.

What is even the point of having it then? :joy:

Because in many cases, the priority pass does deliver faster queue times. However sometimes it can’t depending on a lot of factors (mostly due the availability of players around the same skill rating as yourself.).

Because you can’t create tank player out of thin air, and everyone have a lot of prio passes stacked. Nobody queues DPS without prio passes, even if you duoQ with tank, it still takes 7 minutes with no pass.

We already have games where literal gold players are matched up with grandmasters. Because this happens so often I refuse to acknowledge that this is the issue with the passes.

The more plausible reason for this is that the system is simply failing. I mean it was a failure from the start. They had to do a manual banwave because of how much throwing it caused. Them lowering the losing reward down from 2 to 1 didn’t really fix the system. Players still have so many passes that sometimes the priority queues aren’t even available and more than often high MMR players can’t even use them as they get refunded quite commonly. That’s because everyone is still stacked up with them. Also the high skill variance in games is still being highlighted and players are still (soft-)throwing games to get the box/pass combo

As a full fledged flex player who has always picked all of the 3 roles I’m supposed to be the biggest winner here, but honestly I wish they’d delete the system and feel like it has been nothing but harmful for me personally.

In quick play, hidden MMR is going to be the different as that of the Competitive MMR. That has always been the case even before Role Queue.

Damn I can’t type today it seems.

How about when you join up for a match, use a prio-pass, get into a match, 15sec untill a defeat…prio-pass gone. SAD

When you Backfill into a match you get a Priority Requeue in replacement. Priority Requeues work even faster than Priority Passes. (You must complete the backfilled match to receive the Priority Requeue.)

Someone please animate a tank being created out of thin air

bonus points if it is in the stupidest, funniest way possible

Can you backfill quick play games to farm priority passes to use in comp?

Oh I was already ready to point out the flaw, but it was just a slip up.

But I don’t see how this is still relevant. It happens even when players have adjusted MMRs. These gamemodes have different matchmaking algorithms too so while massive variances don’t happen in competitive, especially with the lowest allowed estimation of chances of winning being 40% there, it still commonly happens in QP. You can ask anyone who has high MMR and actively plays QP. Heck I bet I could log in, hop in a game and provide an instant example of this from the first game.

And I’m not being even cynical here. That’s just the most accurate way to describe the MMR variances in non-competitive gamemodes.

For me, the Priority Pass only made the match quality worse at the expense of a minimal reduction in the time in the queue.
I mainly play DPS and I never use these passes. it’s not worth it.
Most of the time I spend the waiting time in deathmatches or do something in real life. Because there are fewer DPS in the queue, the waiting times are shorter anyway.

As far as I know, the passes are comp or casual.

All of the used priority passes accumulate to form a reinhardt.

But it’s a baby and will need years before it can even play video games.

Sorry, but I don’t really buy this. That is the theory, but I find this doesn’t work in practice. Still have to wait the same amount of time. Plus backfill is really awful - you get dropped into a losing match that is already unbalanced. Two punishments at once - I frequently just quit playing when the game does this because it is very frustrating.

7 months laterrrrrrrl.

You should get only 1 pass for winning and 0 for losing. That way it truly is a bonus, and if less people use the system because of this change its still a win for the people who do have passes because theres actual exclusivity needed for it to work in the first place AND people would motivated to try and win. Cause its all or nothing.

My priority passes are useless since I don’t play DPS. <5 min every time.

That’s one way to encourage more tank players, lol.

The thing is even one is a lot. That means that you have you play one flex and one DPS, that’s 50% of one players game where they’re not even trying/taking it seriously. Whereas if you have 0 passes per loss then they have to trying to flex or else it’s useless and then it’s 100% of the games that the player is on trying. If you can actually play flex roll then we need you to actually play and to ensure you actually play we need the reward to be only when you win because currently they only have a reason to play a flex game but they don’t necessarily have to win and still 50% of their games can be DPS that’s a lot.
