Price Fix Request From Turkish Community

You may have been seen this kind of post on WoW forums and even Overwatch doesn’t have subscription like that it doesn’t change the fact pricing for the game, lootboxes and OWL tokens are insane when you convert prices from €/$ to ₺.

https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/price-fix-request-from-turkish-community/191698

:grey_question:Why Blizzard should give you a special treatment?

We don’t want a special treatment, we just want fair and fixed prices. Blizzard already does this in some countries like Russia, Argentina, etc. Gaming grows everyday here, but sadly new generation of gamers can’t get into Blizzard/Activision titles due to high prices. That’s why we want more reachable prices.

Lots of companies already does this. Subscription services like Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime are super cheap compared to their normal $/€ prices that’s why they are so popular in Turkey. Also lots of game devs/publishers release their game with localized prices. 60$ titles like CyberPunk 2077, Baldur’s Gate 3 can be bought for 250₺ (31$/27€). Due to this CP77 hits #2 spot on Steam Best Sellers everyday.

Also biggest Blizzard competitor Riot has great pricing for both LoL and Valorant so extremely big part of the Turkish Gaming Community plays these games. And I believe if Blizzard comes big with their pricing they can be a big threat to other multiplayer game dev/publishers.

If you want some comparison in game/subscription prices, I hope it will make the reason why we want fixed pricing clear:

Cyberpunk 2077 [Steam]: 59,99€ - 249,00₺ (26,71€)
Baldur’s Gate 3 [Steam]: 59,99€ - 249,00₺ (26,71€)
Gears 5 [Steam]: 39,99€ - 61,00₺ (6,54€)

The Elder Scrolls Online: Plus Membership / 1 Month [Steam]: 12,99€ - 42,99₺ (4,61€)
The Elder Scrolls Online: Plus Membership / 12 Month [Steam]: 124,99€ - 412,99₺ (44,30€)

Riot Points / 750-840 [Riot Games]: 5€ - 32₺ (3,44€)
Riot Points / 1580-1780 [Riot Games]: 10€ - 64₺ (6,87€)

Netflix Basic [Netflix]: 7,99€ - 17,99₺ (1,93€)
Netflix Standart [Netflix]: 11,99€ - 29,99₺ (3,22€)
Netflix Premium [Netflix]: 15,99€ - 41,99₺ (4,51€)
Amazon Prime [Amazon]: 5,99€ - 7,90₺ (0,85€)
Spotify [Spotify]: 9,99€ - 17,99₺ (1,93€)

Before finishing this question, we don’t want to buy everything for dirt cheap. We know how much game development costs and we just want fair pricing for both Turkish Gamer Community and Blizzard. If others can Blizzard can too.

:grey_question:If player base for Overwatch / World of Warcraft / Diablo / Hearthstone was big enough you would have got localized prices.

Well, I can understand your point, but player base isn’t big due to prices. I’m a huge fanboy and i want to discover other Blizzard titles, especially Diablo 3 and WoW. I have my friend D&D group and we want to play together, but prices are so insane and most of them doesn’t want to pay that much money for the game, expansions, gametime.

If Blizzard doesn’t come up with fixed prices their player base from Turkey will only get smaller and smaller everyday due to increasing exchange rate.

:grey_question:“If you are poor don’t play the game”, “you shouldn’t have picked X as president” and other political things

But we are human being like you too, we have stressful day too, we need video games for relaxing too. And some of us find peace with Blizzard games. So is it too much for us to ask Blizzard something that other companies can do and find success?

And if I must answer your political questions/comments about politics, no i didn’t pick X as my president, I didn’t vote Y as government, I didn’t want Z to become leading party.

:grey_exclamation:"#BlizzFixThePrice

I’m just a player who wants to play games with his friends, i have no bad intentions or anything. I just want accessible prices for me and other people in the Turkish Gaming Community. #BlizzFixThePrize hashtag is already popular with Turkish Gaming Community on Twitter and I hope with posts like mine and Egzolight’s more people will acknowledge this topic.

I love this game and this community, and I hope Blizzard will see how much we care about their game

NOTE: English is not my native language and I’m bad at writing so this post may have been a bad post. If you have questions just ask them!

People should understand this ;

We don’t want to lower price than other regions. We jus want to fix prices for exchange rate as other regions.

This isn’t political topic or wish. We’re all in same ship. All other game creators did this for TR and other countries but why Blizzard still did nothing we want to learn this.

I ran a cost of living calculator + currency conversion to see how bad it is, and it’s pretty bad. It’s like 6.5 McDonald’s combo meals for a full price OW PC license.

we have big problems with our economy and definitely not blaming Blizzard for that . we know who’s responsible but I don’t want to talk about politics here. There are many companies (some of them are bigger than blizzard some of them are smaller) that applies local pricing to our country. From MMORPGs to FPS games , From streaming services to amazon prime . They’re not doing this for us it’s part of marketing and it’s also benefitting most of them.
For example ,
OW is 150 ₺ in Turkey and we have 2300₺ as minimum wage
When we compare it to an EU country like France,
They pay 20€ ,too but their minimum wage is 1500€
For Turkey it’s 3/46 , for france it’s 2/75.
As a final note I want to point something else out, Blizzard is not a company that’s against local pricing, they’re ALREADY doing it for some countries, we just ask the same . We have enough population to cover the difference(not as much as Russia but at least around same as Argentina).
I also know that you guys don’t want to see any more of these topics but
Blizz is not giving us an official answer for years. They see that we ask for it but they neither deny or approve it. We need an answer , good or bad(preferably good ofc.)

yeah regional pricing is a problem., and i think a lot of companies are afraid of people abusing it to get “cheaper” prices.

for example, the pesos equivalent of most games in steam when translated to US Dollars will result in games beeing a LOT cheaper.

but really our economy uses a different currency for a reason, and we cant exactly sustain having to pay such exorbitant prices like people In the US probably can.

an example:

Jedi fallen order: 60USD$

Jedi fallen order: 2600ARS$ (In steam)

60 USD$ --> 4625,23 ARS$

(as of right now, its getting worse by the day and i dont think google is updated)

see the difference? its nearly half

we would be paying double, and in a economy like ours (and i assume the turkish have the same issue) we cant afford to drop that kinda cash,

regional pricing is important,

Not sure what is combo meal, but OW in Kr did cost about 5 BigMac sets at 50% sale discount.

But when comparing prices you have to remember that taxes and purchasing power is also very different between countires

no, I dont agree with this, everybody should pay the same price for the game, you cant get it cheaper just because you cant afford it

Typically, burger+fries+drink

Economists have discovered that fast food prices account for purchasing power really well.

they are paying the price in YOUR money, not in theirs

the price should be adjusted to be equivalent currency-wise at the very minimum.

I don’t see anything unreasonable about this whatsoever lmao make it so! If its as you say and already practiced by the company elsewhere, may as well just make it standard practice.

Did anyone read my post? I said 20.000 times my argument but i’ll say one more time.

“WE JUST WANT TO EQUAL EXCHANGE RATE WITH OTHER REGIONS/COUNTIES”

Thanks for read my post. We don’t want to lower price or cut-off for price. RU = RUB / AR = ARJ / TR = TRY . It’s a simple example.

It makes sense.

Regional pricing is pretty standard for most companies.

Countries with less disposable USD equivalent dollars usually get charged less. Because some profit off that region, is better than almost no profit.

Especially for digital goods. That do not require supply chains.

Until Blizzard takes action you can try:

  1. Prayer for exchange rate
  2. Heed your minister’s words and “do not look there”
  3. Get an imam hatip diploma and save yourself (Btw, most useless people having highest income might have smtg to do with devaluation)
