Anyone knows if there are any news on this? I’ve been waiting for days to hear back from support and nothing yet. Has anyone had this issue resolved, so at least we know they are working on it?
They have a system this ill-considered and thought out…
I can change EVERYTHING but the phone number.
Real Customer service and security isn’t:
Hey if you want a new cell phone number you better remember to remove your old one off our site.
Because we don’t have a system to remove it, you’ll have to open a ticket, fill out this form:
Any physical game keys/codes attached to the account:
Invoice IDs from a purchase (these are found in the confirmation email sent after a store purchase):
Transaction ID from a purchase (found on your bank/financial statement):
Date of birth registered to the account (MM/DD/YYYY):
Previous emails associated with the account:
Previous BattleTags associated with the account:
Previous physical addresses associated with the account:
Previous phone numbers associated with the account:
The answer to the account’s secret question:
Plus a pic of your ID
Oh and we won’t tell you until just before the launch of a game you paid for the battlepass for that you need to update your number. SO now, you have to wait for our underpaid, understaffed Tech team to get around to updating this REALLY important cell phone number that’s the only bit of account information you can’t do on your own.
We at blizzard only care that we got your money, not that you’re a happy or cared for client of ours.
Seriously I’m really irritated by this… stupidity on Blizzards part. Whomever designed this “security system”? Should be fired outright, and whoever decided to last minute warn us our SMS needs to be updated or we can’t play… needs to be fired too.
I have to agree, this is sloppy on their part. I bought the watchpoint pack and if I’m not able to play the game I will waste money/time.
They sold a product then they after the fact they announced a requirement but have a broken system in place to meet it. Thus denying paying clients access to play the game they swindled them into paying for.
This is going to blow up in their faces hard.
This is actually a bit dangerous - if the phone company reassigned the phone number to someone else, then the new person with the phone number now has control of your account (although they likely don’t know this!)
While stringent checking is important before linking a phone number to make sure you actually control the number you are linking to, delinking a phone number should be easy for the reason above.
