Prefrerred Hero Throwers

Enough people have made it clear if their Prefrerred Hero gets banned that they’re gpong to throw the games for others.

There needs to be more protection for players on a teams that are trying to be held hostage by one person, an extra option in the report function to specifically state that someone is throwing because their prefrerred hero got banned should be added.

A perfectly good and welcome system should not be tainted by people throwing.

If it fails its not because of the system, its because of a small loud minority of players

I am fine with that. It’s not as if it does anything. And even if they gave it special attention, it’s not as if you would even realize I was doing it to begin with.

Scry some more, miss hostage. I am going to be sippin’ pinacoladas while you cry about your rights or whatever.

“Enough people”. Do you mean the 3 people on forum? Stop being dramatic. As for some otp not being as good on other heroes, that’s not throwing.

You can already report someone for throwing. You don’t need any additional special button to do so.

Right?!

“You do not matter, nobody is personally targeting you.”

And then they pretend as if a system needs to be developed just to contain me and two other people. ROFL

You cannot make this stuff up, cuh.

Hah, so the same guy who said i’m have a victim complex now worried that some people gonna hold him hostage and ask blizzard to save him?

Just to clarify, again, i don’t actually believe that people will ban preferred hero, because that’s just dumb and people are trying to win in ranked usually. But it will happen occasionally, sometimes because of meta and team comp, sometimes because some people just don’t care.

One-tricks being afraid and planning to hide their hero is a worrying thing, but this forum is minority of the community, so i think they are overreacting.

I don’t need to intentionally throw if my preferred hero gets banned. I’ve already been inhibited by my own teammates and will unintentionally play worse.

This was / is already a thing when two teammates fight over the same hero.

I guess it happens maybe less now… ? I haven’t played Comp in ages.

Just report any player that is into that kind of low-budget blackmailing.

Protecton… ? What for ? It’s not like it’ll happen every single match, plus we’re talking about a Competitive game mode in a 9-year old game… It’s not the end of the world.

Well, Overwatch doesn’t have that kind of active players anymore for devs to care as much as they would for a new game. Also, Competitive already has a solid reporting system that punishes leavers / thrower. You’ll be fine.

Banning heroes in a multiplayer game based on counters will be problematic for other reasons than a bunch of toxic throwers, trust me. No need to stress over this right now.

Pretty much. I was thinking about learning Venture, which I am pretty bad at overall, but they are at least kind of like Doomfist. I could also use my Kiriko that focuses more on nerf knives than healing so I can pretend to be Genji. Or mid season, I will not be able to resist the Little Guy. But my Mercy is already at like negative 30 games. If I use her, it’s a guaranteed loss. Especially if I am distracted staring at the chinchilla. It’s inevitable.

It’s not objectively throwing, but, like, we seriously had a better chance if I got to play a character I was passionate about. My heart will not be in it.

If you care so much about winning then you could just not ban your teammates preferred hero.

By banning them you are the one throwing by tilting them and potentially getting a teammate on a different hero they can’t play at all.

You could opt not to select a preferred hero, then you can’t be targetted lol

That, sir, is perhaps the craziest suggestion I have ever read on this forum. That why you have a Junkrat icon, you absolute mad lad? Time to get back into the straight jacket where you will be safe and not bother the good people any longer… Shh. It’s okay. Everything will be fine.

Now that’s the winner’s way to look at it lol

I’m going to equip a Pharah icon, the first Pharah title and have a Pharah name card.

The other team will ban her for me :smirk:

Doesn’t that require level 50 progression? It would take 100 hours at least

A sacrifice I’m willing to make.

Almosg as dramatic as people throwing because their prefrerred herp gets banned.

Nah not being a victim, just people like you uave made it clear that theyre going to throw if they cant get their way, there should be a good way to report it.

No you put yourself in that position before the game started by limiting yourself to one hero.

Because like ive explained before its not about what they want to play and what we dont want to play against. If the otp cated about winning they wouldnt otp.

Again no because theyd already hanicapped their team before even entering the game.

It has failed before it has even been used. Why? Because they tried it before and it failed. They haven’t really changed anything to it.

I’m a little worried that the salty one tricks will just end up reporting anyone who votes to ban their hero. We already know the ban system is automated so it wouldn’t surprise me if people end up getting banned for this.

One could also just not ban their teammates characters out of spite?

Like, banning meta is one thing. Sure, you simply just don’t want to take the risk that if the enemy has the meta character and theirs is better, you’re guaranteed to lose.

Banning others preferred characters out of spite is another entirely.

Here’s a test.
Tell me why hero pools failed.
