Just so you guys know, Blizzard is now preferentially reversing chat bans.
If you are a streamer or personality currently either shilling, previously shilled or just engaged in the playing of OW2, chat bans are nothing to you. One quick e-mail later, and it’s reversed. No drama. Nevermind that you might have been raging harder than 90% of players with chat restrictions ever did, but hey, you’re a personality so it’s OK for you.
This kind of favouritism is so cowardly and weak it’s unreal.
I’m against chat restrictions in any form in any case, it’s my opinion that people should simply learn to mute or grow a spine…but I am AGAINST one rule for one and one rule for another.
Blizzard, pick a lane.

Just try to be a better person and you won’t have to worry about bans
This is nothing new, considering how streamers are basically their pet yesmen/free advertisers, which is why I propose we hunt them for sport.
Bro, I don’t even play the game anymore. But I wasn’t talking about myself in any case, and I wasn’t talking about toxicity in general.
I was talking about how double standards are bollocks.
They literally only overturn bans if it was a popular streamer. It’s been proven (by a streamer themself) that you can be falsely mass reported and banned. IIRC a streamer asked everyone he met ingame to report him for cheating and he was subsequently banned for cheating. Still Blizzard will not do anything unless you are famous and make a big stink about it on Twitter.
Several people have been banned just for playing Doom before he was buffed. Blizzard did not revert their decisions, because they do not review at all.
Watch a Tyler1 sponsored OW2 stream and tell me he shouldn’t be banned for life. By far the most toxic streamer I’ve ever seen play the game yet Blizzard keep throwing money at him.

This tbh.
Thing is, I couldn’t give a toss about his banter, I actually find it funny, but it’s obscene that he can do it yet if I did it I’d get an insta-permaban within 4 games. That’s the bit I have a problem with.
Yeah same. I don’t really care what he says, it doesn’t affect me but he’s literally typing ‘GC’ (Get Cancer) in chat. And Blizzard are paying him while he does this yet they turn a blind eye to it because they are so desperate to promote a dying game.
People also need to stop having meltdowns over every disagreement or trivial conflict they have with other players…
You cant pretend this is a one sided problem…
It definitely isn’t a one sided problem, but believing people will ever be civil in an online competitive arena is like believing you can punch out God or move the Sun with the power of your mind.
And to be honest I get it. It starts with small frustrations when you see something an ally isn’t experienced enough to see and it costs you a game, then before long you’re in full tilt-boogie mode and everyone is trash (although, they aren’t, you’re just tilted) and you wanna let 'em know it. We’ve all been there.
You can, however, learn to control yourself. If you find someones chat to be too much or disruptive to your game, mute should be the only option you have.
You cant control other people, and no one should have to, however when you dont have clearly defined guidelines as to what is and is not appropriate your going to have issues… which is the first part of the problem
Then you have systems within the game further creating breeding ground for it, as well as encouraging players who allow their ignorance of the game to negitively impact the experience of others…
Punishing it does not do anything to stop it. Time has proven that
The problem is that in this game (and many others online, mainly MOBAs) people can’t take being called “bad”, even when they know they are. Sure, it doesn’t help calling someone bad, but that’s rarely the first step. By the time it gets to the flame the guy has likely ignored advice, ignored pings, ignored team callouts, etc, etc and scored the equivalent of an own goal.
I mean you wouldn’t show up to a 5-a-side match, score an own goal twice and then expect the 4 guys you’re playing with not to be pissed. These people are insane. And all it takes is a “sorry guys, my bad” to completely defuse most people, but humility and self-awareness is sorely lacking in this woke-fest trash game.
