Pre queue with heroes

Deadlock does this is there not a way overwatch can’t therefore getting rid of the pain point of bans for some while effectively still leaving them in place?

The thing is that Overwatch a pure Competitive eSport

In a more Optimized approach, you should pick the heroes you are going to play, around Map and Tank needed for that match

That Pre Queue looks more friendly towards a casual audience. And because of it, its going to lead to Always pick the strongest characters

Heroes of the Storm does it and it works, but a big part of Overwatch is hero swapping so I doubt it’d be viable

See the thing is I actually come from competitive gaming and there is essentially nothing competitive about overwatch let alone it’s standard competitive mode. I mean if it was there wouldn’t be hero bans to begin with as that is just not a competitive mechanic. Yes other “eSports” do it, but it is not competitive so much as a selling point because their games aren’t actually competitive. They sell the fantasy of competition and things like that let bad players further think they are being competitive. But the truth is it’s literally the opposite. People are just so far up the eSports bs train they believe the stupid stuff these aaa companies try to pawn off as what makes a game competitive.

Overwatch was never meant to be played with one hero, how would they even make matches with this? Who decides the comps?

No.

Stop trying to circumvent the ban system.

You have to select many is the thing.

It isnt played with one hero yo have to select a pool and you can prioritize.
So what you do is you pre load the ban phase with a preferred phase so when matchmaking happens there is a variable to match against IE do not match you into a game where all of your preferred heroes would be banned. But this would also be really good for 6v6 and its problem with open queue

Removing the hero ban system is the easiest thing, because there would be no need to polish and re-polish it to be more appealing.

That’s because it will never be a good idea or system in a game like overwatch

Theres posts on a daily basis complaining about matchmaking and you want to throw ib more stuff for it to think about? Yeah definitely cant see that going wrong…

No need to touch something that isnt broken

Might be the easiest thing, but the dumbest thing?

I agree!

Let’s all Pre-Queue as Genji and wait a whole hour for a match because no serious player would pre-queue as a tank or healer.

I’d rather use pre queue for the map voting.

You check the maps you want before queueing and MM gathers people who share a non-empty intersection, and MM can choose one in it. Almost the same effect without the annoying map voting process, and you can play unpopular maps as well if you can wait for long q times.

The King’s Row 24/7 dream would be closer to reality.

Both parties can be satisfied

People are obviously not happy with hero bans whether the system is broken or not. Blizzard will surely find a way to make hero bans more appealing to a larger audience, but overall the end result should still be the same. What wasn’t broken was a video game that was doing just fine without hero bans for years. It didn’t pass before and it shouldn’t pass now. Therefore, the easiest thing for Blizzard to do is remove or disable the hero ban system.

Nothing worse than people who fully believe the hero ban system makes the game better. While people are still actively against having it in the game at all. It is simply a bandaid fix to a perceived problem. Your personal preference is not a metric for everyone. Overwatch hasn’t needed a hero ban system and it would do just fine without one again.

To be fair, given how Blizzard has treated balance since it came out, the bandaid IS our savior. We would not need it if they were vaguely competent… But they believe a 90% banrate is normal, for a year? That de facto proves we need it. These same people fear Reinhardt. They are not to be trusted.

You frame that as in People is a substantial number, in reality its a few dozen forum members out of THOUSANDS of players, if more were unhappy you’d see more talk of it elsewhere.

They already are.

People had been asking for Bans for a while, thats why we even got the terrible iteration of Hero Pools (which devs only tried because they wanteds to do something different instead of what people wanted)

We havent had a Hero Ban System before
