Powercreep will kill this game (again)

Its been about 3 weeks since the beta started and in this short amount of time we are already starting to see powercreep.

Please stop buffing supports, revert them (outside of the mercy one ig), Like why are we buffing bap and zen when they arent seeing playtime in a dive meta??? That makes absolutely no sense

The first patch they did actually had good changes (outside of the zen 1) please just go back. Its been 3 weeks and the game is already showing the same signs of powercreep that killed the first game

I agree, don’t buff supports, nerf dps. Without them being able to deal insane amounts of damage from nearly any angle or distance we wouldn’t need to have increased healing or “survivability” for more supports. This 5v5 really is just a patch to cater to dps minded individuals afterall.

I see the same pattern, they need to replace Geoff, or this game’s PvP future is predetermined as another ow1 with the same issues in a new package.

It was pretty clear they were struggling in the new format. They’ve also buffed damage and tank heroes, and nerfed support heroes. Why are you singling out the support buffs?

So, just so we’re clear. You’re OK with buffed tanks and dps, but you want supports nerfed.

The TTK in this game is way too low. A lot of times you can’t even see what’s coming before you’re dead. So there is way too much damage throughput going on. Meaning that the first stage is to nerf DPS throughput all over the line to bring the TTK lower. Especially burst high burst damage needs to be seriously toned down, such as Spamso’s machine gun, Pharah’s rockets and Junkrat’s damage capacity. There is also a necessity to look at hitscan, especially Ashe and Widowmaker. What OW2 seems to be catering more and more towards, is hide and seek. You run from cover to cover, hoping for the life a hitscan doesn’t find you and snip your head off.

Now as a controversially idea, I think all supports should have their damage increasing capabilities looked at. This means primarily Mercy’s damage increase, Bap’s ultimate, Ana’s nano boost and Zenyatta’s discord orb. With the TTK so low, they add damage throughput in an already high damage throughput environment. So a decrease in burst damage and a removal of these to a degree would increase the TTK without necessitating increase in healing throughput.

Perhaps we should look at support differently altogether. Have their kit revolve around enabling, and instead give them capabilities to CC, speed-boost and heal. Utilities that doesn’t increase damage throughput on DPS heroes but give support unique tools that make them both useful for the team as well as capable of standing on their own.

I guess powercreep is their new way to say “it’s not all about balance, but also fun”. Your character feel powerful cause some powercreep in certain areas. If all characters are powercrept, no one is, isn’t it?

I think they’re just testing stuff a bit more expirmental than they have in past OW1 beta.

To an extent, yes. If everyone is OP, then noone is OP. But this loses meaning on the gradient curve where if you start down the path of making everyone strong then it makes others not as strong in certain areas. It really is kind of a paradox in a way because if a character is perceived to be OP but dies in .1 seconds to another OP hero, is the original OP hero actually OP?
Circuitous nature of a paradox, sorry about that.

It’s the new way to say “Any buff I don’t like is wrong”.

Granted, Bap buff might be a bit too much.

But any time anybody goes with the “Any buff is bad, merely because all buffs are bad” it’s a pretty braindead take.

If anything, if Regen Burst is too much, I’d say keep it, then nerf Lamp.

Or they should scrap the worst decision they ever made & get rid of 5v5

They need to build OW i to what it was not some crappy team COD squad game like they are doing

DPS caused the issue by not switch & playing other roles so let those scumbags live with it, i mean should tanks & supports suffer for the dps crowd

I never said I was ok with buffed dps and tanks?

Old jeff said we the players don’t know what power creep is. Unless we are talking about Bobby, that’s a power creep.

power creep is the least of your worries. The insanity of a match maker designed to be toxic is what will flush this game franchise down the toilet and the irresponsible owners at Activision continue to waste the Design and Art departments time while collecting big bank on smurff accounts.

What makes it even more disgusting is Activision filed a U.S. Patent on their “wonderful” (not) match maker they are so proud of. :face_vomiting:

If the DPS get nerfed, then the tanks need to be nerfed, too.
Otherwise, they will not die at all, due to not enough damage coming at them.
And then, the Supports will need to be nerfed, in order to balance it all out.

Then, we are back at square one, but with every role watered down (current state of OW1), again.

As if dps powercreep doens’t exist in OW2.

I never said it didnt. But its not as noticeable as the support ones.

Since the beta came out the only dps hero to see a buff was soujourn
Anyone else who popped up in the patch notes got nerfed

And on the support end outside of moira, lucio and ana
Everyone else got buffed

Bap can literally heal himself and everyone around him for 150 hp with the press of a button and he still has immortality. But guess what none of these buffs are actually gonna help him cause he still sucks with 2 out of the 3 top tanks.

The second the dive meta ends ur gonna see baps pickrate sky rocket

That’s my mindset. Buff > nerf. I miss 2019 where OW had insane Bap, machine gun Cassidy, The true Spamzo, god-like nano, unkillable Brig … etc

It was so fun, but then reverts and nerfs started until things went back to original or worse.

Seriously? you notice it more on supports instead of dps.

Well my dude i feel and notice it more on dps than supports.

Oh no! Not power creep!

Anyway,
