Potential for OW2 Sigma Rework

So does anyone else think Sigma doesn’t need a rework for OW2? I know Blizz has mentioned that they hadn’t decided how they wanted him to play in the sequel, but I’m really hoping they just tune him a little bit rather than rework his kit.

Fingers crossed that we see Sig in the exhibition during the OWL Grand Finals

I’m pretty sure all the tanks will require reworks to some extent, especially the off-tanks. I wouldn’t get my hopes up for seeing anything other than what they promised on Saturday though.

In theory, Sigma and D.Va probably have the most suited kits for solo tanking and shouldn’t require much other than buffs.

Biggest worry for them is other Tanks imo, and whether or not Blizzard successfully reworks everyone or if the problem children drag the whole role down.

I wouldn’t mind him losing Experimental Barrier if it means his Grasp gets a resource meter and it gives him shield even when cancelled.

Also the gap left from the removal of his Barrier gets replaced with a Gravity themed ability. Maybe one that spits back all absorbed damage from grasp or it slowly pushes away enemies near him with increased intensity if they are standing near him.

i think just a neat idea to boost his mid-fight potential would be an accretion disk forming around sigma whenever he uses kinetic grasp or accretion, dealing a small amount of damage, knockback, and anti-gravity in a small radius around him

D.Va was the worst tank in 1-3-2…

okay…

He absolutely needs a rework. It’s not a mystery as to why the only Tanks getting full reworks are the 2 Tanks who can do 4-5 things at 1 time.

Orisa can shoot while her Shield is out, and be fortified, and have her Ult going, and use Halt…

Sigma can shoot while his Shield is out, and use his rock and can also use Grasp whenever he wants. He can also use all his abilities while Ulting…

These two Tanks in comparison to the original Tanks like Winston, Dva, Rein… it’s obvious why they’re an issue…

I mean as a solo tank he wouldn’t work in the slightest without some massive buffs or changes. For the last year or so they have been nerfing shield tanks due to the double shield meta. Side effect of this nearly shield tank other than Rein is near worthless solo.

Sigma’s shield is slow to deploy, slow to recall. Slow to recharge and pops like a soap bubble. Oh and his rock can’t knock down or something any more. I forget exactly what change it got but it reduced it’s usefulness.

On his own with his hard to deploy shield he will be walked all over. Also remember AI bots generally speaking don’t miss and come in larger numbers with higher HP totals. Simply put Sigma is going to do pretty badly in the PVE side of things without changes.

Thats triple dps though. In 5v5 you’ve only got two to contend with and they are nerfing/reworking cc mostly.

So you can’t just go Hanzo, Mei and Sombra and eviscerate the tank with ease.

Also Roadhog was the worst tank in 132, there was no competition to that.

Just to clarify, when I say “rework” I mean a full overhaul of his abilities. I don’t mean something like giving Winston an alternate fire or giving Rein an extra fire strike and more pin control. Of course EVERY tank will have to be tweaked in some way. But I’m saying I hope Sigma doesn’t get a massive overhaul the way characters like Symmetra, Torb, and likely Bastion/ Sombra have

That was a very rough trial run of a very different team compensation with D.Va being underbuffed compared to others.

Historically speaking, D.Va with stronger defenses/Matrix was about as effective at solo Tanking as it got until Hammond hit the scene. And it remains to be seen what Blizzard will do with him, on top of him requiring a much higher skill floor for both himself and teammates to be effective.

Of course, yeah, moot point if Blizzard doesn’t tune the numbers enough. But simply kit-wise, the “hybrid” Tanks are ideal for 5v5.

Imo Sigma is the only tank i wouldnt rework too much, because of his generalist design. He is most suited to be a lone tank in a teamcomp. Possibly even too strong, depending on how other tanks are gonna look like. I would think that him being able to kind of do everything fits with what tanks should do in Overwatch 2, him being a very generalist tank without much specialization should make him viable for solo tanking. Right now i cant imagine Zarya or Roadhog, nor a rework for both heroes that wouldnt completely change their identity that would work in 5v5. Orisa, Winston and Sigma kind of feel fit for Overwatch 2 in terms of their kit, they just need tweaks and small buffs/nerfs.

no… he can only shoot while ulting and that’s it

Yeah, Sigma’s a blast. I’m half-expecting the axe to fall on his barrier, though. Like WB, he feels like he’s really suited for 122 - and that might mean he gets brought down to others’ levels, and not them brought up to his. Fingers crossed that it all pans out, though!

oddly enough I think Sigma is ideal for OW2 because he has the most stacked kit out of any tank.
he would obviously need rebalancing, but since his kit is so flexible I expect Sigma to be one of the tanks with no reworks.

Sigma needed a rework

IF THE GAME WAS STILL 6V6

In ow2 he’s perfect since he will be the only tank. He deserve buffs in ow2 same as orisa.
